I think there is. Each Middle East country requires one to be licensed under their health ministry. Saudi Arabia has its own licensure exam as well as Dubai's MOH and i think it holds true for other middle east countries. You can call the Qatar Embassy if you want to be sure.

If someone who is not originally from Middle east wants to work there, how long (weeks-months) does the process take to obtain visa to work there? Is it difficult to get the visa? And, what language shoud you know? Is knowing only English going to make it difficult for you as a RN?

How much is the pay/month or per/year?

What route should someone who is interested to work in Middle East take? Someone please reply. Thank you.

@ Moments: The visa process varies so it can take anywhere from 2 months to maybe 6 months. You also need someone to sponsor you may it be visit visa or working visa. People communicate in English so that won't be a problem. Pay rates also vary. The best pay rates are from Oil Companies however, if you are after the experience, Public hospitals are good too. Benefits include housing allowance. Just a note, rent in Qatar is on the high end. One thing you might also consider is the location of the hospital you will be working at in Qatar. Doha is the best place there, but others are well pretty much surrounded by desert. Qatar has some clubs and pubs tho which is good but those are all in the city.

is it really not possible for one to be granted a working visa without a sponsor?

what are the qualifications for one to be a sponsor? do they need to have a permanent residence visa or is a working visa enough?

thank you!

You need an employer to get you a working visa. Not sure if it works the same way with the visit visa. Maybe others here can help you.

For any type of visa except spouse/fiancée and tourist you need a employer. May be the odd exception but for nurses you need a employer

@ mcruz924: I don't think it's possible to get a working visa without a sponsor. The easiest way is to find a "wasta". A "wasta" is a national who has connections inside the system who can help speed up the process and who can most probably help sponsor you. This is common anywhere in the middle east. However, finding a wasta can be difficult if you don't know anyone from that specific country.

As far as I know, a valid sponsor for the working visa is any legal company in Qatar or in some cases, a Qatari. Visit visas tho can be sponsored by relatives. There's also a visa called "commercial visa". This specific visa is used by many in middle east as it is easier to process compared to a working visa. This is comparable to a business type visa in other countries but in order to get this visa, you would also need a company to sponsor you. If you have a partner in Qatar or even in the Philippines who is going to work in Qatar or is already working there, they can apply for a visa for you. People say that if you are husband-sponsored then it would really be easy for you to find any job there because you are considered a priority. Weird but that's how it is there.

Have you tried applying at a hospital there? Or are you just going to go there and try your luck? If you have the experience, you can try applying at Hamad Hospital. A lot of the staff at Hamad are Filipino and they're really nice :) You can also try the EMT path. To do this, take a 6 months course at PGH and then apply at Qatar. The pay rate is 50k up (sorry forgot the exact amount but it should be around 50k-75k PHP). Accommodation is provided so you wouldn't have to worry about that.

The easiest way for you to get a tourist or visit visa is through your dependents. It would be highly difficult for your friend to get you one unless it is for a legitimate reason. However, it is rarely you could get a visit visa through a friend. Good luck!

no, i havent applied to any hospitals in qatar yet. im still weighing the options i have. thanks so much aelith!!
