Hello, I'm writing on behalf of my wife who is currently at work as a staff nurse in one of the private hospital in South Africa and to be precise Pretoria. Her dream is to pursue her nursing school in Canada because of their level of advancement. He has to option which her to finish her bridging course in nursing (2 years) in one of South African private college anc become a registered nurse or a Bachelor of Nursing - After Degree or a Practical Nurse - full time in Canada. Her preferred province are Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Please advice us on the best college in terms of fees, accommodation, best place to raise kids of 7yrs, 5yrs and 1yr.

However, to make it easier for you to answer our question, i will like to break her qualification down for you. She holds a degree in Russian language, she holds a diploma as a Staff nurse from South African Nursing Council and she is a registered nurse in South Africa where she is practicing now as a nurse. Please advice on the best college with a reasonable tuition and what does she need to do as an international student. Thanks and i will await your response.

Hello, and welcome to AN!

Since your questions are really quite specific to Canada, may I suggest you take a look at the Canadian Nursing Forum here on AllNurses? If you go to the top of this webpage, you'll see a bright yellow banner with many headings; on the far right is the word "World". Click on that, and you'll see a listing of all kinds of international nursing forums, one of which is devoted to our Canadian friends.

Good luck to you and your wife! :)

Moved to the International nursing forum.

Question when it comes up regarding student visa allowing her to live and go to school in Canada needs to be asked in the Immigration forum. Registration requirements for Canada needs to be posted in the Nurse registration forum and in regards where to live in Canada and schooling then Canada is the forum to post in. All these forums are found under the World tab

The question is actually about the best option based on your experience, Will the Bachelor of Nursing - After Degree be the best option or Full time Diploma Practical Nurse. The system in Canada and South Africa is quite different. Please advice

Each province College of Registered Nurses have different requirements and also a new process started for International Educated Nurses started last month called NNAS. All IEN have to go through it before applying to the province.

Is the plan to stay and live in Canada once schooling has finished? I don't fully understand what you are asking as a Registered nurse BSN (degree) is higher than a practical nurse here in Canada. What does she actually want to do?

Now I know why most could never get posted, this has bounced through several different forums.

Is the OP wanting to migrate here and settle or just come whilst the wife is studying? If they are only coming as students, be aware that the fees at any college or university are extremely high for overseas students.

If coming to settle, it may be faster to migrate using the husband's job qualifications.
