Nurse bound to UK

Hey all. I would just like to share and see your opinions about this prospective employer. I, together with 2 of my friends, applied in a recruitment agency here in the Philippines which is registered by POEA or the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency. Meaning to say they are eligible and legal to process papers for workers who want to ply their trade abroad. Anyway, we were interviewed by the agency and had an IQ test and they told us that we are just for pooling but they also said that there is an employer who recently asked them to pool company nurses bound for UK. They said the employer's hiring process would be quick as they urgently need nurses to work for their company. They disclosed the name and and immediately upon returning home I researched about the company.

Upon looking up the company's name on Google, I learned that it doesn't have any website at all. But a certain site that tracks businesses in UK shows that the company is "active" as of 2008. However, it boggles me as why this "construction company" doesn't have any website of it's own? And the address, thanks to Google Earth, pinpoints to a residential house? But it's not all that, things got weirder today.

Some hours ago, the agency SMS'd us to check our e-mail as a job offer then was already sent (apparently) by the employer. A job offer was sent after just a week and a half of filing in the agency. And they want us to sign it ASAP. What bothers me are these:

1. We did not have any interview with the prospective employer but we already have a job offer.

2. We are to be deployed immediately (around 2 weeks from now) without NMC registration (but the agency told us that we will take the NMC in the UK)

3. I am the only one who has IELTS between me and my friends, but they also received a job offer. Isn't it that employers or the UK itself require workers to undergo IELTS Academic and NMC registration (for nurses) prior to deployment?

4. And as what I have said in the paragraph above, no website can be traced on the company

5. The notary papers that were signed by the attorney in UK has grammatical errors.

It seems too good to be true as the processing only took about 2 weeks to be exact even without concrete and complete requirements. And I have this feeling that too good to be true things have something fishy behind them. What are your thoughts? Is this employer legit? Are we bound to face anomalies then? Thanks guys!

Specializes in GI Surgery Step-down.

I would not trust them

Specializes in Emergency, ICU.

That sounds like a scam. I wouldn't trust it either.

Sent from my iPhone -- blame all errors on spellcheck

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Sounds very much like a scam. NMC process has changed and you can not work as a nurse until you have registered with NMC and met requirements. I expect requirements to take several months. English exams are a requirements of the employer as well as NMC and Immigration
