hi folks am hoping to be in the USA next year (STILL WAITING FOR I140) anyway, the question is are you people who are going to the usa with the intention of never coming back keeping you uk licence active, its quite expensive to register now (it was £60 when i registered 3 years ago, i think its 3 times that now!) so is it worth it? how difficult would it be to re activate if i wanted to return to the uk? obviously its an expensive time with moving etc so any savings would be welcome.

My NMC is due next year and I have decided to re register next year and then when the 3 years are up to re evaluate what I am doing etc and then decide whether to keep it going. Yes it is a lot of money and if it does lapse I don't think it will be too much a problem getting back with them if I do return to the UK but don't have any plans to return :)

Hi!

Mine lapsed during my absence from Europe. I just missed keeping track of it and did not even realise before it was too late. Reactivating was not a problem, paperwork and a fee. I remember it being a no hassel situation.

Nope :) I think it is easier for someone who trained in the UK or foreign nurse already gone thro process who has let it lapse to re register
