Hello All

I just wondering that anyone experienced like me or just me. I am IEN and live in Vancouver. I have been looking for a job for 3 months now. Unfortunately, all I heard was there was no position. I understand that there is high demand for nurse in BC. Anybody has any idea or suggestion for me. I am so desperated right now.

Hi qveronica

Fortunately, I did get a job as a causal for now in long term care facility. I went to talk to them and they decided to hire me as a casual. I don't know exactly the ways but I went to the place and talked to them. It's that not easy. It took me almost 4 months to get this job and you will get there, don't give up.I have talked to many recruiters about job in hospitals but there is none for IEN not because they don't have any but first, they have to hire ESN who already worked with them and experienced nurse. I just hope someday it will be our turn.

Wish you luck for the exam.

Hi dear Keesha,

I think this is the most nice present for Christmas and I'm so glad that you got a job finally.:loveya:

I have still a long way I need to sit the registration exam and I'm so afraid cos I'm not there I just study with material that I got from net. The other problem is that I can't find accommodation in Vancouver. I try all craigslist and VancouverSun and Province without any results. How did u find accommodation do u have friends or relatives? there could you suggest me please how to find to rent or share an apt.

I hope to keep in touch to know about each other.

I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Veronica

The same thing is going on here in Ontario. The provincial government is not funding hospitals as they had previously so many positions may be left unfilled.

This is true. It has been more than a month now and still no call from the hospitals I've applied to. I spoke to someone from the HR but they don't have anything for me :(

Just thought I'd share this sad news with you:

Ontario hospital funding freeze means longer lineups, paying for services: critics (Dec. 17, 2009)

Ontario residents should expect to pay for more health-care services and endure longer lineups if the Liberal government follows through on its threat to freeze funding for hospitals next year, critics said Thursday. Health Minister Deb Matthews has reportedly warned hospitals that she may freeze their budgets starting in the spring because the province is grappling with a $24.7-billion deficit – the largest in its history.

The most hospitals can hope for is an increase below last year's 2.1 per cent, which critics say is so meagre it has already forced hospitals to close beds and cut services.

I am so upset about this. It messes up my plans to do my BScN as I worry about having too much debt at my age, not to mention my kids that need further education after high school. Until recently, it was never this difficult to find hospital nursing work. Ugggh!

If I were to decide which province to apply for registration right now, which do you recommend that I register with considering the following:

-Job prospects

-Chances of getting approval for registration as an IEN

- I'm a recent ADN degree graduate, NCLEX passer, and currently licensed in Illinois, USA with no work experience.

Any insight will be appreciated. Thanks!

hi,

are you going to come to Canada to apply for the job even you are licensed in Illinois,USA?

do you think is better in Canada than USA? how is the situation in USA with the nursing jobs?

What is ADN?

regards

Your ADN education might be accepted by Manitoba and/or New Brunswick and there may be jobs available in these provinces see Jenn8500 posts https://allnurses.com/canadian-nurses/crne-455212.html

I am in a similar situation except I don't graduate until May. I contacted the college of registered nurses in New Brunswick and Manitoba and I believe they will except an ADN, however, I noticed that some of the RN positions in Manitoba want a Canadian education. The college in New Brunswick was very helpful and they told me there are a lot of open positions. Are you from Canada?

Hi jenn8500,

Is it true that New Brunswick has a lot of vacancies?

I don't think so. I already have eligibility in New Brunswick and I contact the previous recruiter of one of the regional heath but no vacancies for IEN even though they have alot of advertisement. Now that that have a new recruiter, I sent her an email and same reply was made. they can't accomodate to hire IEN.

Thanks lenjoy03! I am undecided yet..PEI or NS... I am really confused...
