Hi,

I have just finished my nursing training in the UK and have just relocated to Texas.I have been waiting for the ATT from the California board for almost four months and they told me i might have to wait till Dec.

Could u guys pls suggest any other state board where i can quickly register for the NCLEX without having to wait till thy kingdom come?.I also need advice on where to work in Dallas (not CNA) while waiting for the ATT to come. Thanks in a million

I'm sorry for what you're going through. California is notoriously slow for international nurses. You might check out the Texas Nurses Forum for questions about Dallas facilities, and the International Forum for questions about becoming licensed in the US. There's lots of good info there.

I am going to move this to the International Forum where it is more appropriate.

The biggest issue that I can see right away, is that you may not have sufficient hours for licensure in the US, if you just graduated in the UK. Did you have courses in Maternal Health with Labor and Delivery, as well as pediatrics? These are needed for licensure in the US.

Texas requires a CES, done by CGFNS. They will not issue you permission to test without that.

You must apply for licensure to a state BON, you do not apply to take the NCLEX exam. The exam is only one step in the licensing process.

Do you actually have a SSN#? And what type of visa are you on?
