how will i continie nursing in usa?

Hi. I am a 2nd yr nursing student here in he Philippines but on December, I will have to go to USA. I am planning to study there, but I have many questions on my mind. If I will study there, do I have to repeat high school in US? Or i will just have to apply a nursing degree in any colleges there and what are the pros and cons of studying there?

Your high school diploma or college transcript will suffice.

Nursing school is very competitive here. If you plan to study here, be prepared to pay international student prices and wait for years before being in the nursing program.

Is it hard to apply in community colleges?

It is not hard to apply but like it has been stated the nursing programs at the community colleges are very competitive and some even have wait lists of 2 years or more.

Yes they have entrance exams and high GPA And good grades are a must!!! I would just start looking at school websites of where you would like to attend and request information or talk to someone.

Does BSN in USA take 4 years??

Kabayan!!! Yes it takes time..i suggest that you go here and get ur green card then apply for re-entry permit (good for 2 yrs) so that u can finish bsn in the phils..then once u graduated, go back here and apply for nclex :)

Depends on the state where you wish to live & work. BSN graduates from the Philippines have not been eligible for licensing in CA for quite a few years as the educational program does not meet the strict standards of CABRN.

Competitiveness of nursing school entry is relative. If not a resident of the area for a year or so you would be subject to out of state or international tuition in a state school. Each school has it's own entry requirements. You can usually find this information online by googling the school. You can find a list of approved schools by checking the state board of nursing website.

Generally a BSN is 4 years full time study inclusive of all pre & co requisite courses (general ed, anatomy, physiology, nutrition, psychology, microbiology, statistics, writing/English, etc). You likely have to have your education evaluated by a service such as World Education Service (WES) and may have to pass a test of English proficiency as a condition to college entry.

Do your research now. Ease of acceptance is relative for some it's easier than others.

What if i already took the other subjects here in phils like anatomy, psych do i still need to take it again? Is it really hard to enter nursing schools in USA? I feel a bit discouraged now. Hahahaha

Just like applying to transfer credits from one US school to another, it will be up to the individual school you wish to attend as to whether it will accept and give you credit for your PI courses. Yes, it is hard to get into nursing school(s) in the US. There is a lot of demand (people who want to get into nursing programs) and competition.

Only the school can tell you if you need to repeat classes. Some schools will do an unofficial transcript review pre-admission if asked. Contact the schools that you are interested in directly.

My sister and I were accepted in each school we applied however , we each did our research to ensure that our application and requirements submitted met or exceeded the school requirements.
