Hospitals hiring foreign nurses

Hi,

Can anyone help me by giving info about any hospitals or employers in Bay area, California, hiring foreign nurses and will file for visa too?

Presently i am in CA on H4 and got my Nclex-RN and visa screen completed. Any info will be highly appreciated.

There is not one hospital in the Bay Area that is willing to petition at this time as there is no way to know when visas will be available again. We do not expect it to open up for several years for AOS, and that area also has more applicants for new grad positions for nurses that are able to start working right away.

Unfortunately, if you were not able to get an employer to petition you this past summer when there was short window of opportunity, it is going to be almost impossible now.

Best of luck to you.

Your other issue is country of birth, there are many more applicants for the limited number of visas from your home country due to the number that are in the IT field here now and are under the H1-B visa wishing to get the green card. And they were able to get petitions submitted this past summer.

Even to get the MSN that would get you to the EB-2 category is also retrogressed about five years due to the number that already have the Master's degree from your country.

Even if you do find someone to petition you, the issue is that we do not expect the I-485 to be able to be submitted for several years. The retrogression has been going strong here since October, 2006 and it is still continuing and will be for sometime.

Best of luck to you.

To work legally in the US you are looking at GC, there is not really any other visa unless you meet requirements for H1B which many hospital no longer do and you need certain requirements to meet them, plus H1B the demand is higher than visas allocated. With no work visa there is no way you can work legally in the US. I suggest a good read in this forum especially on retrogression and work visas

Hi and welcome to the site

The issue you have at the moment is there is no way to adjust your status and be able to work, all you will be able to do if find an employer is file I140 which does not allow you to work. You are affected by retrogression

Silverdragon or suzanne,

I know that if I would to stay to be able to work as a nurse I would need a hospital to sponsor me and petition the I-140. But since the retrogression is already going on and god knows when it will end, when do you think I will get my fair chance of getting the green card to be able to work with a hospital. If I get an employer right now to sponsor me and submit in the petition, when can I expect to get to work here with the employer? Do you think 2 years of wait sounds like a long wait or would it be more than that compared to the retrogression?

Does not matter if one has an employer, the fact is that there are no visas available. And we do not expect any for several years, and if you do not already have a petition that was submitted, you are looking at more like five years for a chance at a green card. There are many ahead of you in line and that even have approval on everything but are just waiting for a visa to become available for them. The number of applicants is actually increasing so the chances are getting slimmer.

There is also no guarantee that if one passes the NCLEX exam and gets submitted by an employer that they will ever get a green card and be able to work in the US.

If you have not even been hired as of now and paperwork already well submitted, there is little chance of being in the US in two years, essentially impossible.

Hi Suzanne,

I have a slightly different situation. I have passed the NCLEX-RN and Visa Screen certificate is also ready. My AOS is filed in july 2007 and I-140 is already approved through recruitment agency. I have a valid EAD to work for next one year. But the agency is still looking for suitable openings and i have been waiting for the past 3 months. I have around 2 years of clinical experience in india. Is there any hospitals in CA where i can apply for a job with the above status..?. worst case i may have to change the Employer from the current agency to the hiring hospitals to continue with my AOS status.. Any advise here is highly appreciated..

Thanks
