i understand that there is an ongoing retrogression. i need to know whether what is affected in the issuance of visas at this timeare only immigrant visas ? i know someone who arrived in the u.s. and is now working in a place in texas under a working visa. she arrived there last february 2008 only. i am confused whether sponsorship is available to hospitals at this time for u.s.r.n.s. it does not matter for me to start with a working visa. anyway, the green card will come sooner or later. thanks and regards.

There are 15 facilities out of the entire US that can sponsor with the H1-C visa. But that is the number for the entire US, and if for some reason one does not like the hospital, or they do not like them, then you have 30 days to find another employer that can sponsor you with that, or you must leave the US.

Next issue that the H1-C visas are expiring in 2010, and we do not think that they will be renewed then, which means that any of the nurses under that, will have to leave the US.

In order to even be considered for this type of visa, you must hold a license for that state, as well as have a Visa Screen Certificate in hand, otherwise one cannot even start the process.

Please take the time to do some reading here, you will not see one of us recommend this type of visa for anyone. Please also be aware that Texas does not have ratio laws and the only facilities that can offer this visa are ones that have issues trying to get enough Americans willing to work there, usually because of where they are located or for the safety of the staff.

If this visa expires, and there are no green cards available, then the person must leave the US.

If you can get a job in the EB1 or EB2 category once you have completed OPT you have a chance of staying in the US however as a new grad that may be hard as generally new grads go into EB3 category and for most that is severely effected by retrogression . Also a lot will also depend on your country of birth

Is there possible to get work on OPT or get sponsorship after completing OPT? I have Master degree in Public Health in US university and Bachelor degree in medical from India. I am just worry about getting work after completing MS in Nursing program. Is also possible to get employer for EB2 or EB3? Thanks

There is a possibility but coming from India you will be affected by retrogression especially on EB2 and EB3 and in that case once you have finished OPT you will have to leave the US unless you continue your studies and remain on F1

not sure what you mean by this but does any one applying h1b or h1c visa to work as nurse? but retrogression affects immigration. h1b/h1c are work visas and come under a different heading. h1c expires i believe next year with no indication that it will be extended. only approx 14 hospitals have h1c status and with current us economic situation and many nurses looking for work i doubt it will be extended. h1b as long as you meet requirements and employer is willing to pay for it then it is an option but they will have to justify why they are not able to employ a usc or pr especially when many are without jobs.

things are pretty tough in the job situation in the us and you may have to consider leaving the us at the end of your training/opt unless you maintain f1 status

The hospitals with H1c status will probably loose that status if the category expires that means once nurses on the H1c visa date is up they will have to leave the US unless they get a H1b visa.

If you can find a hospital or nursing home willing to pay for a H1b and go through the process then you may have a chance but they have to prove that they are not able to employ a USC or PR in the same job. Has your wife plans on applying for GC?

My wife started her job before 1 year. Her company is not sure about applying GC. Thatwhy I am worrying about working after completing my course. Which hospital or Nursing home are applyig H1B visa ?
