i understand that there is an ongoing retrogression. i need to know whether what is affected in the issuance of visas at this timeare only immigrant visas ? i know someone who arrived in the u.s. and is now working in a place in texas under a working visa. she arrived there last february 2008 only. i am confused whether sponsorship is available to hospitals at this time for u.s.r.n.s. it does not matter for me to start with a working visa. anyway, the green card will come sooner or later. thanks and regards.
Medical degree? Are you an RN in the US? Where?
You would be eligible for H1B visa as a (double) masters degree holder. You need to find hospitals and convince someone that they need to hire you. Do you have experience as a nurse in the US? If not, you may find it hard. What is your MSN specialty area?
Hi Suzanne,
I have been away a long time, but feel happy to come back:yeah:, I hope you all have been keeping well and thank you for your good work, keep it up :loveya:. In replying to this thread, I was wondering if you would be able to give me the names of some the 15 hospitals in the states sponsoring people for the HIC visa, and particularly one in Vermont as I was issued my license earlier this year and wishing to try my luck, I also do have a degree in nursing, thank you.
Dear suzanne,
could you please provide me with some more information on this. I am graduating this year as MSN, CNL and will be on OPT for a year till jan 2012. I got offered a position at UCI med. I am not sure what the process is now, what happens after the OPT is over? what do i have to ask employers to do? Is it H1b visa now? basically how can you extend your work period past the 12 months? thank you so much!

If you are offered a position as a CNL, which it appears that you are actually finishing a CNL program here in the US, you should qualify for an H1B Visa given that the role or position of a CNL requires at least a Master's degree. I would get an immigration lawyer who is able to go through the process with you.
thank you Juan. I have actually been offered a clinical nurse 1 position and not a CNL position. Do you know what my options would be? I mean what would an RN have to do, if they had all their education here- are there any other options? because i know i wont be hired as a CNL right away

CN1 position will likely not qualify you for H1B. Speak to an immigration lawyer and see what your options are given that you have an offer of employment.

You have to approach them and ask. Many will probably not with the current situation especially when nurses are loosing jobs very hard to justify employing on H1b when others are loosing out. Plus H1b costs money that they wouldn't have to pay when employing USC or PR.
Only option you have is to contact hospitals or nursing homes and ask
