HELP! Uk student

hi everyone:monkeydance: . i'm a 2nd year student nurse in liverpool, uk. i desperately wanna work in australia when i qualify. i'd love to know what the pay is like, the working conditions etc...

i'm thinking of moving to queensland but unsure which area is best. any advice anyone??

any general advice about australia would be great too.

I trained in Liverpool many years ago. Worked in South Australia for a while. Loved it. Pay and working conditions far better then UK. Houses much cheaper. Weather - perfect. Aussies - lovely people, would do anything for you. Only negative - poisonous spiders, hey but there had to be something negative didn't there?

If I where you though, I would consolidate my training with a year or two working in a UK hospital as this would ensure the Aussies would take you. I do not know what branch you are in, but you may have to do further training as they request the amount of hours training in psychi, maternity etc (or they did in 1991).

Anyway, whatever you do good luck!!!

thanks for your reply. I'm doing the adult branch. i haven't been told i need to do extras but i'll check.

are the promotion opportunities the same as here??. do they have nurse practioners and prescribers?

Have been back in the UK for years. Husband was in the RAF and we where on an exchange programme for 2.5 years in Australia. Am now living in leafy Cheshire for my sins. I trained at Broadgreen hospital when it was a general hospital (showing my age). If you do decide to go to Australia I think you'll love it. I certainly did.

i can't find out what the promotion scale is like. do they have nurse practitioners and prescribers?? is it same as here or completely different? cause the opportunities here in uk are good
