im a new grad nursing student... im still wating for the Board exam result... but i dont want to stay hoe doin nothing. i want to have a job that coukd give me extra income and would give me the experience i can use for the future (as a nurse).... any one i know you have een through this kind of situation!!! so please give some advice.... .

And if looking for jobs where you need to write a letter, and many jobs require that; would suggest that you focus on your writing skills and perhaps try to get the English exams passed as they will be required for work in any other country that is English speaking before you will be able to get any type of visa.

Whether wanting to work as a drug rep, or something else similar, you will be watched for your reading and writing skills, in your language, as well as English as most pharmaceutical companies are international and English is used as the common language for most.

Best of luck in whatever you decide to do.

hi. when did you take your exams? this December 2007 only? well, all i can say is that it really is tough looking for a job:uhoh3:. i took my exams last june 2007 and our results were not out until late august. anyway, i tried applying for work. but it was really tough. there were suddenly a huge influx of unemployed nursing graduates during our time that most institutions would not already entertain you the moment word comes out from your mouth that you are a nursing graduate. most of my batch mates worked as call center agents and other unrelated jobs like in fast food restaurants... although some were lucky enough to have jobs in pharmaceutical companies. as for me, i tried applying as a tutor in Koreans but i didn't make it. so i changed my course and volunteered in the Phil. National Red Cross. However, I'm still a dependent living under my parent's roof. hehe. As for earning the extra income, well, i didn't get to earn anything but someday i know i'll earn my own money. hope this could give you an idea of what's life after the Board exam. I suggest why not give your time off after all that heavy work. Anyway, December NLE results just usually take a month to be released unlike the June NLE which took us almost 3 months of waiting. God bless.

that a part of my question!! but one thing i knew is that here theyll accept volunteers!! of w/out salary!! ;)

for example guys if I wud apply as medrep?! is it possible? or if it is will my exp/cert. help for futurre employment?>

they accept volunteers but you need to pass your boards. right now plenty of newly board passers can't even get a nursing job here in the Philippines because of overabundance of nurses. So with your case, I doubt you can get the soonest unless you pass the boards. Even volunteers requires you to have taken and pass the board exam (showing them certificate of passing is enough). Goodluck.

Yes you can apply for it. But medical representative won't be considered as nursing experience.

i can get you a job in 5 minutes!!

Volunteer jobs in the Philippines do not count as work experience in any other country. They are essentially training programs and nothing more, and many times you even need to pay for the training.

They are considered as training and nothing more since you are not a paid employee of the facility.

Please do not post information like this when it does not help anyone, in case you are not aware, we have a retrogression in place in the US and expected wait time to get a visa to be able to work in the US is about five years at this time.

So moving to the US at this time is just not possible to work legally.

I understand what you feel. I've been to that situation also. But from what I've heard, 50% of those who failed the June 2007 exam took the NLE last Dec. 1-2. They also said that the result will be out by the end of December, but of course I doubt it! One thing is for sure, since the number of retakers are smaller than that of JUne 2007, expect the result will be out in no time. Just wait for it and enjoy the last few days of your holiday vacation. When the result is out, apply immediately to any hospital nearest you or the hospital of your choice. The more the better! You know how the competition of nurses here right now... Hospitals are already picky even if your a board passer and it would take alot of time waiting for those exams and interview.

There's always time for everything.... Pray..... I really believe in prayers.... And since I prayed to be on an area where I'll excel and develop my PR and nursing skills, I still can't think of the reason why God placed me in the infectious area. I'll have the answer someday....

and.... Patience my dear... : )

i wish, i'll just contact you after 3 to 5 years after i passed the NCLEX, IELTS, and um a visa number. going to the u.s.a. is so hard nowadays.

i took the june 2007 exam and luckily i passed. I immediately sent resumes to different hospital institution and none of them called me yet. getting a job here as a nurse is tough unless you know someone ( 'BACKER') i think thats the easiest way to get a job as a nurse, if you dont have one -like i do- some hospitals (especially the big ones requires that you have high score on your NLE minimum of 80% just to be interviewed.

some hospitals called me though and informed me of my interview date--feb 2008! :uhoh3:

anyway what i opted? i submitted all the requirements for NCLEX and because it takes 3-6 months for you to have an ATT, i opted to work for 3-6 months rather than staying at home. as soon as i get my ATT, (valid for 1 year) i will stop working and start preparing for the nclex.

after that i will take all the exam required to work legally in the u.s.a. after that i will start to look for work here in the philippines and earn experience say 2 or 3 years.

you shouldnt apply as med rep here coz you would be hooked in this job. take an extra time or ask your friend or your teachers if they can refer you to some hospitals that hires underboard or waiting for the result o f the board. am sure we have a lot of hospitals needing your services.
