Canadian LPN in United States

I am the General Manager of an assisted living community in Bellingham, Washington, and I have had two nurses from British Columbia apply for an LPN position that I have advertised. Can anyone tell me what the requirements are for a canadian licensed nurse to be able to work in the united states?

I imagine the first step would be for them to become licensed in the state they wish to work in but I honestly have no idea.

If you look at NAFTA you will find that TN visas apply to RNs, but not LPNs.

Both posts are correct. Have to be a RN to qualify for a work or immigrant visa as the main applicant. FYI for NAFTA all that is required is state license for RN, visa screen certificate from CGFNS and a letter of employment.

People cross the border to work all the time in the lower mainland.

Best question, OP, is ask them if they are dual nationals or green card holders. You'd be surprized at how many people in this area are green card holder or dual nationals.

If they are, then they need to get a Washington state license

Thank you for the reply.
