ITT RN Program

U.S.A. Indiana

Hello everyone! I was just curious to see if anyone has any information about ITT Tech? Any info would be appreciated :nuke:

I was a little concerned myself about ITT Tech's RN program. I was accepted in the program and start Sept 2010. I think that everything will be fine. It is a new program and all new programs have to go through the same steps. If we allowed other peoples opinions to influence us we will get nowhere in life. For 6 yrs I tryed getting in Ivy Tech's nursing program. I had all A's in the prereqs and couldn't pass the TEA's math. I failed it by 2 points and scored low 90's in the other areas. I prayed for something to give. Few months later I found out about ITT Tech. I said another prayer about the school because I was a little worried about the reviews. God is good and I am gonna follow the signs he gave me. I am excited to start at Itt Tech and will keep you all posted. Good Luck to all nomatter where you decide to go to school at.

Thank you so much for this Ms. Tee, I also tried for 6yrs to get in at Ivy Tech and my A's weren't high enough. I worried about it for so long. I heard about ITT and prayed about it. I researched for over a year about the school and asked questions. Finally, I decided to take the entrance exam. I prayed as I was going up the stairs, "Lord, your will be done". He knows how stressed out I have been about school and how much research I have done. He knows my needs and he knows my worries. I told the Lord if he wants me in the program, I would be accepted. I was accepted. That's all I need...

OMG, That is my story with the praying and stressing. I said the same prayer, if I pass this test and get in then that is where the lord wants me to be. And guess what I got in. I got sick because I was so stressed and confused at the last minute. I didn't know if I should go to ITT or St. Francis. I guess I will be going to ITT. What concerns me is in 07 the Indy campus took boards and pass rate was only 65.22 (very low). This is 2010 and why are they still not fully accredited?

There is a lot more to accreditation than just the outcomes (NCLX pass rates). They look at how the program is organized, how students are being prepared in the courses, exams, etc. There is a whole list of standards the school needs to achieve. The NLNAC has an entire book on what is needed for them to get accreditation. Anyone can read it online, if you so want it.

Just FYI, and you can go look at the website, they were denied initial accreditation in February 2010. So, ITT can inform students they are seeking accreditation, but have they told students they were denied in February? That doesn't mean they can't reapply because the NLNAC informs the school what they need to do/fix.

The NLNAC comes out for a visit to the school and ITT is not on the site list for the Fall...however, Harrison College is.

Best of luck while you pursue your future career!

I want to thank you very much for this info, I did not know this. I am so upset because this is information ITT Tech didn't tell me or other prospective students. I will most def bring this up with the other things at orientation. I don't think I am going to go to ITT Tech now. I was supposed to start next month. I think I will check out St. Francis University.

Yes Ms Tee, it was a difficult decision but I do feel good about it.

Actually they did inform us they were denied. They did my class anyway. Along with some of the things on the list that need fixed. But, they also said the school is 100% for getting the NLNAC accreditation. If you look under the candidacy status list, they are still listed. I have seen some changes made and they are expecting a visit here in the next year. They have to wait at least a year before the NLN can visit again. If you don't want to deal with it, go somewhere else. I just don't think ITT is a horrible school.

I decided not to go to ITT Tech. It is just so much going on with the school and I don't want to have a RN license and be limited to the jobs I can get due to the school I graduated from. I also don't want to hold a RN license that I can't build on at a university. We had a meeting at out job Friday and the ASN nurses were told that they need to think about startingfor their BS because hospitals are changing up and they want their nurses to at least have a BS. Itt may get all the accredidations they need but I am just not at peace with myself going to ITT. It was sooooo hard took me a couple weeks to decide. I decided to go to a school that has an established program and full accredidation. True it will be a little harder than ITT but I don't want to waste money or time not knowing. I wish u all good luck at ITT and hope it all goes well. I am sure it will.

I will be starting this quarter (Dec. 2010). I looked around a lot before I applyed. You CAN GO ON FOR YOUR BSN WHEN YOUR DONE! There are a number of colleges that will accept your ADN and the fact that you passed your boards as prereqs for admission. It maybe online or not local, but it can be done. As with all schools your going to get out of it what you put in. I know a number of the nursing students at the Newburgh IN campus, and they all think very highly of the program and know that when they are done they will have job offers locally. I think that with every college someone is going to have a bad experience. I went to Ivy tech and was told that I was going to be put on probation in the financial aid dept. because my class pass/drop attempted/earned ratio was to low since I had to drop 4 out of the 5 classes I took one sem. when my mom passed. I then transfered to USI where they told me I did not qualify AT ALL for Federal Aid. (They were wrong.) I am getting a FULL Pell grant, at ITT, USI had gone in and changed some of my info, incorrectly. So although I know a number of people PERSONALLY that love IVY TECH AND USI, I DO NOT. I am currently enrolled in a diff program at ITT and love it there.

i have heard a little about 2 other programs, 2 yr rn schools that recently opened up. there is the (indiana business college) ibc rn program and the med tech college rn program. both are located locally. ibc is in indianapolis and med techcollege is in greenwood. maybe check into all of you options before you commit to any school. i sure wish i had.

the itt program is far better than the other 2 programs you spoke of. i have checked into all of them and am now attending itt's rn program. i am happy so far and im not worried bout the tuition because as a nurse, someone will pay for your education. all of the schools are expensive but i am happy to spend it. it will pay off 10 fold, so no worries here!

there's allot to say about this. i am currently enrolled and wish i hadn't.

at this school none of your credits will transfer to another college. so if are planning to continue your education beyond an associate degree, then this school is not for you!!!!

i no longer feel the way i did initially. i was wrong about my school and i am glad i have graduated from itt. yes, it was expensive, but it was worth it. it was a case of a new school working out the kinks. and i found a program where i can continue my education. always inform yourself so you can make the best possible choices for yourself. never let anyone else's experiences discourage you!

RN2064...You are a graduate of ITT's Nursing program and haven't found any problems finding a job or continuing your education?

Yes, I have had multiple job offers and I am currently working. Also I am enrolled at seeking my BSN, then MSN. So it is something that can be accomplished. I am still waiting to see if ITT received the NLNAC accreditation though because where I live it is a big issue determining where I can apply for a job. There are several places not willing to even look at your application if your school does not have NLNAC or CCNE. I would have had allot more job options available to me if that were secured. But all in all things are good considering. :)
