Thanks for lettn ppl know that ur a working ITT grad! It really puts to shame all of the negetive comments on here! They have already done their NLNAC visit there.. I wonder when you guys will know? How was your classes NCLEX pass rate? Did you pass the first time or did it take more than 1 time for you? Sorry about the questions but Im starting ITT's program here in Canton, MI. in the fall and you are the only ITT RN that I've found on here so far!

Nurseextern1,

Questions are a good thing so please don't apologize. I don't know any of my graduating class that has not found a job. I was in the second class that graduated Dec 2009 and all of us but maybe one or two were not able to sit for our NCLEX until early 2010 due to open availability for testing at Person Vue. My class pass rate was 96.55%. Now I am not counting those who started in my class but that did not make it either to graduation or that got bumped into the class behind ours. The program was hard but I believe our class had the best NCLEX pass rate up until now, but I could be wrong. I passed the NCLEX the first time. I did not like the idea that if you failed the 1st time the test is harder or asks harder questions with each subsequent try. That's what I heard from others. So we all studied our butts off. We had several study groups and I honestly believe the camaraderie truly helped us get prepared and do so well. It also helped that all of us except maybe 2 had a healthcare background. At least 8 of us were LPN's, myself included. In my class there were MA's, surgical Tech's, CNA's, and even a hospital security guard. So maybe that helped too. Good luck, study hard, and you will succeed. Form study groups and help each other out. And if you have any other questions let me know. I am glad to help if I can. Oh, and any day the NLNAC should announce the Spring decisions, so any day now. For those who graduated who did not decide to continue their education it's more of a big deal. My new school is CCNE accredited and that's a good thing so I don't have to worry about this issue again. I just wish NLNAC would hurry up and announce it so I can say told you so to all the naysayers. ITT has a good RN program and I am tired of hearing people who never went there trash talk and dog it out. It's just like evrything else in life. You get out of it what you put into it, no matter what school it is.

RN2064,

Did you have any probelms getting into ? I talked to them on the phone about taking ITT grads and they told me absolutely NOT! I was told that I would have to take all of my nursing classes over because they would not accept them. I have been told from someone I know that her friend is going on for her BSN thru WGU after graduating from ITT. I am hoping to start at ITT but I worry about not being able to get a BSN because I know that I will need it to secure a job. Thanks

leeann0011,

I don't know who you spoke with at . I am an ITT grad and I started there in May. I have a classmate who started there this month as well. I would suggest you call again and speak with someone else. Whomever you spoke with originally probably doesn't realize that they do take people who came from ITT because I am there. I was told initially if your school was not accredited through NLNAC or CCNE that WGU reviewed your transcripts and any previous classwork before ITT (and I had some) and made a decision on a case by case basis. Both I and my classmate are currently attending. I asked the same question as you and the response I got was to apply and send in your transcripts.

Honestly, if you have not even started ITT, right now I would suggest looking elsewhere. ITT did not get their NLNAC this year, but they are planning to re-apply. That is another multi-year process with no guarantees. If you can avoid that all together, DO! Try finding a local school that has NLNAC or CCNE already. Then you will not have to worry about finding a school to accept your credits so you can continue your education or if people will recognize the school so you can actually find a job. Save yourself the headache. Don't get me wrong I still believe ITT was a good school, but with their previous reputation I know they still have an up hill battle trying to get accredited. There are a whole lot of reasons they did not get accredited and I believe it had NOTHING to do with the nursing education they provide there. Unfortunately politics come into play. Don't waste your money and time. I didn't believe I would be saying this, but find another school.

It's an uphill battle for any school to get their accredidation when they are new. ITT in Jacksonville is accredited. I wish I was seeing better reviews about this school.

[color=#0d0d0d]it is interesting to me how people believe everything they hear, but since you all do, hear this and believe it: itt's nursing program is truly one of the best schools in the state. i am in my 6th quarter and am eagerly anticipating graduation in less than a year. itt has allowed me to actually get out of the rat race of taking taking pre-reqs over and over again, assuming i can even get into the classes i need, struggling for a 4.0, because we know that's what it takes to get into a nursing program around here, then pay to apply to a program where you are just going to be thrown into a lottery system or have a number stamped on your forehead and wait for it to be called. tuition is expensive but it's worth it to me, because it is the fast track to my rn. if you want to stay the cc route and continue on your hamster wheel, then that's fine. i'll see you in 7 years when i'm done w/ my rn and working as a nurse and you're still finishing.

I just have a few questions for anyone who has graduated from the ITT tech RN program:

What was the pass/fail rate? How much was it per credit hour? If you have graduated how long did it take you to find a job? Did your employer want to know who the school you went to was accredited by?

I appreciate any thoughts or feedback, I am looking to join this coming semester.

Actually, according to the FL State board of nursing (http://ww2.doh.state.fl.us/MQANEPC/SearchResults.aspx) ITT is NOT NLNAC or CCNE accredited. As a graduate from both a state level (ADN) and private college (BSN), I can attest having one of these certifications is crucial when considering obtaining your graduate level degree and beyond. While searching for MSN to DNP programs, 100% required the applicant graduated from an accredited nursing program. While some insitutions will consider granting admission to those with degrees from non-accredited schools, sadly, many will not, greatly limiting the students choices to pursue education on a graduate level. Secondly, when choosing to attend programs such as ITT Tech, one must consider the cost of the tuition. Why does it cost over $450 per credit hour while others, that actually do carry the NLNAC and CCNE stamp of approval are 1/2 the cost? For those of us that rely on our government student loans, remember there are aggregate loan limits to consider as well. According to the US Dept of Education, the undergraduate limit is $57,500—No more than $23,000 of this amount may be in subsidized loans. If you are spending that on your associate degree, there's not much left for your BSN!! Moreover, many scholarships will only award to those students in accredited programs thus disqualifying many from much needed sources of financial assistance. All in all, programs such as ITT tech are quickly becoming the answer to the nursing shortage in the US, but at what price? Be a wise consumer, do your homework and choose a program that won't limit your future or your pocketbook!

Smart choice, I am in the ADN Program at ITT-Tech. 86% failure or greater with at least a year to go. 2012 is not starting out to be a good year.

good afternoon,

i am a graduate of the breckinridge school of nursing @ tampa fl. i was the first class and so far we have 100% pass rate on the nclex. i understand the concerns of many of you. i felt that we were the first child to a new parent and we all learned from each other and the did change the passing a class from an 70 % to an 80 %. i also felt that the school was flexiable with every student because life happens and they worked with you. other schools in the tampa, st petersburg fl area are not so flexiable.

if you are worrying about the money, just remember that most of the community college around this area have a two year waiting list and you have to have a 3.9 or better. so go to all of the info sessions and find what you like. if you get into a school and need any help email me [email protected]

as a graduate 100% at the itt tampa campus

As a former instructor at ITT Earth City I can assure you that your money will be wasted as well as your time. They wanted us to lie to the State Board of Nursing about the program which is unstable and poorly managed from top to bottom. The students admitted were not smart enough to even pass most of the classes at the basic level. Recruiters talked people into testing for entry with no realistic expectations of passing. All they want is your money. Out of 21 accepted only 5 made it through to the end; only to not pass the HESSI exit exam.

Go to a real school and become a real nurse. ITT is a joke. Your credits will not transfer until they are accredited for 3 years and can show an acceptable pass rate. Provisional accreditation means nothing, except they can continue to teach and take your money. June 2012 is Earth Cities first year so if you would choose to go to a BSN program you would not be accepted. If future classes do not pass they will NEVER be accredited. You have a technical school diploma with no future for advancement.
