Anyone take Technical Writing?

U.S.A. Indiana

I am taking Technical Writing online as an 8 week course this fall.

Several people told me that this class was pretty easy so I wasn't worried. I had been told I could easily take it online.

Recently, Some students told me that this class is difficult and there was on way I could take it online, in only 8 weeks. Now I am getting worried because I am trying to keep my 4.0 gpa.

any advice? i am taking it @ Indy/Ivy Tech

THanks!!!!!!!!

I took it in the summer, 8 weeks too, it was very easy...I wouldn't worry even a little bit about it!! There is only one assignment that will take you more than 15 minutes and thats the last paper. Just look thru the syllabus and start it a lil early and you'll do great!

Awesome! I was planning on taking technical writing next semester so its good to know that online won't be so difficult. These online classes truly are a lifesaver. And I thought I hated them in the beginning!

I took it this summer online through Bloomington and it was really easy. I barely spent any time on it at all except for about 2-3 hours on the final paper and I got an A. I wouldn't worry about it at all :)

So specifically, what teacher or campus had the online Technical writing class that seemed pretty easy?

I would like to sign up for that particular one as I have found many classes- especially the online ones vary alot in the work needed to be completed, depending on the teacher.

Thanks,

I had Nemes as my instructor. One thing I would advise though, SEVERAL of my quiz questions from the semester pertained to an earlier version of the text and therefore did not apply to my semester. They asked about stuff that wasn't even in the index of the current edition that we were using. I had to email the teacher weekly with these problems to get the correct scores on my quizzes. He admitted that the quizzes needed updated. I hope they do in fact update them for this semester so that you don't have the same issue that I did!

What campus was the teacher out of? And was this class online?

Thanks so much!

One person told me that the final assigment is your resume. she said they had zero papers to do. she said it was writing letters, emails etc.

Someone else told me that they had to write 4 papers. one of the assignments is to take a newspaper/magazine ad without words, then write a 4-5 paper on it explaining it without using your opinion. that sounds kind of hard....wouldn't it be your opinion? tricky. i dont want that assignment.

does this sound like familiar with that class? they were 2 diff campuses but they seem sooo different!!

I haven't bought the book yet, guess I should. (it doesnt start until oct though)

Mine was online through Bloomington. We did have to do a resume and cover letter as assignments, but our final project was a written report on a problem in our future field and our recommendation on how to fix it.

mine was the same as Lennon, thru indy. We aren't allowed to post teachers names, but if you pm me I'll tell who mine was. Easy A!

I took it online through Columbus last summer and found it to be easy as well. I had several papers to write, all business related.

A classmate of mine took it through Kokomo this past spring and it was basically the same. She had a couple of papers that were different but the subject matter was the same. She said she had no problems balancing it along with her nursing classes/clinicals.

How is it so far??? I just signed up for Spring online.
