Other SSU pre-licensure BSN applicants?

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi all,

I'm brand new to this forum. Who else has applied to SSU's pre-licensure BSN program? The anticipation is killing me! ;) Does anyone know whether the overall G.P.A minimum of 3.0 applies to the last 60 units of college work only? I definitely meet that, but had a mediocre grades stint back in the 1990s, when I got my BA. (I'm an older student at 40.)

Good luck to everyone applying to nursing schools right now. I was accepted to Dominican University, but getting into their nursing program is separate, and one must stay enrolled to eventually get in.

Thanks again!

Congrats meib92!!! That's is so exciting!

Congrats, meib92!! Very awesome, indeed. :) Also congrats to caligirl7! I too am an alternate. #1. I have no idea whether any people typically don't accept.

Congrats to all!

P.S. Meib92, I couldn't write back to your personal message, because I'm too new here. :)

Thank you both! And congratulations on you two being alternates!

Tall4, I did receive your PM. We totally know each other! If you're #1 on the alternate list, I'd say your chances are at least 90%! Crossing my fingers that at least one person turns away their acceptance and goes to another school of their choice. I look forward to being classmates!!:)

@meib92 & @caligirl7 & @Tall4 - Congrats on your acceptance / alternate (which sounds like you have a great shot) status! I just received my acceptance email last week for pre-licensure BSN program and I am here searching for info on SSU. I'm a transfer student with my bachelor's degree. So will we all be in the same cohort? If so, let's get in touch. One of my good friends from College of Marin also got in too! Im currently living in Novato, so considering a move closer to SSU, especially if most of our clinicals will be in Santa Rosa. So excited to learn all I can about the program.

Let me know if we will be together. Good luck everyone!

Hi bethchapin!!

Congratulations on your acceptance! Yes, we will be in the same class. I will also be a transfer student, but from Santa Rosa Junior College. Is SSU your first choice?

Tall4, any good news for you yet?:)

Hi BethChapin,

Congratulations on your acceptance to SSU! If I get in as an alternate, I look forward to being in nursing school with you. :)

Hey, meib92,

No, I haven't heard from them yet, lol. :) I've checked my email exactly 8 million times today, even while I was in statistics class! (And I usually have my phone off during ALL classes.) I hope to be classmates soon!

Hi Tall4, Im crossing my fingers for you.

Hey Meib92, in at SRJC right now in CNA program, graduating May 15th! Also taking a class at COM. Im going to SSU orientation May 2nd. Will you be there?

That's exciting! Congrats! I have to do my CNA this summer. Yes I will be at the transfer student orientation! I'm not positive, but second bachelors might be exempt from the university's orientation. I would double check. But if I'm wrong I will meet you/see you there!

Tall4, it looks like there has been movement on the alternate list are you officially in the program now?

Hi Caligirl7,

Yes, but I just found out yesterday, so it's *very* fresh news! I would be attending today's orientation, but I volunteer for hospice and always visit my newest patient on Friday afternoons. (I feel like he really needs those visits.) Also, the orientation isn't required for second baccalaureate students. I am looking forward to meeting the students and hate to miss the orientation.

I really, really want you to get in. Only if you don't mind me asking, what alternate number are you? I know how torturous the waiting is, believe me. Thinking good thoughts for you!

That's great news! Congratulations Tall4!! I'm so happy for you!!
