JJC Spring 2011?

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

I posted a while ago in the Illinois section. No reply so I thought I'd see if it was just because its just not an active area or if there is no one on here from JJC. So anyway, anyone put in their application during the Aug 1st-15th open application? I applied for the night program and am currently waiting for an email saying they have accepted my application and when the TEAS test dates are.

I'd love to meet some other JJC students. If we get into the program we can set up study groups. By the way I've been through the first semester (long story, don't want to repeat what I've already posted here). I can share my experience.

If no one applies I'll assume the new applicants haven't found this great site yet:D

For some of the theory classes you will be taking you can usually attend lecture at anytime (so even if you are in the day program..you can go to the evening lectures) only problem being you will still have the conflict when it comes to doing your clinicals and clinical topics portion of the program. Your theory classes will probably be 8am til 10am or 10am til 12pm same goes for clinical topics portion. So maybe that will help you somewhat. Just keep your head high and do what you have to. you deserve to be there!

Wow, I didn't realize that I may be able to attend the night lecture if I am in the day program. I was kinda freaking out because I cut my schedule to part time and I work Wed & Fri 9-5. So, as long as I get a Thursday clinical I should be OK, if I can opt to go to Friday night lecture. I can arrange to go in late on the few test days. I feel like we have been waiting forever!! It will be so good to get some definitive answers and schedules etc. Can't wait till TUESDAY!!! BTW: has anyone else noticed that proir to TEAS & selections all EVERYONE used to talk about in class was applying, TEAS, & everything nursing.... Now NOTHING!! I no longer hear any conversations about it!? I used to not be able to set foot in Chem, micro, or even the halls without hearing nursing, nursing, nursing!! But ever since those emails went out, not a word!! (Shrug) IDK... maybe it's my imagination??

Yeah, I know what you mean....I noticed it too! I think the people that did not get accepted just don't want to talk about it, and those of us who did, feel bad about talking too much about it. I can't wait till Tuesday either.

Hey people, so today I got my schedule and I have clinical topics on Tuesday from 8:00 to 9:50 and Clinical on Wednesday from 7:00 to 1:30pm. Is there anybody out there who has a 10:00 clinical topics and Thursday clinical who would like to switch with me?? My clinical sites are Silver Cross and Salem Village but I'm willing to go anywhere to do this switch. I just can't be in class everyday at 8:00 my 2nd grader doesn't start school until 8:45!! This entire process is about to turn my hair grey!:crying2:

Gixergirl....what section are you in for clinical? I think you MIGHT be in my group.

In order to switch clinical time, you have to find someone to swap with and then it's ok. I switched mine, however I was only able to switch for the other section at the same location. So in looking at the sheet we received that day, it appears you are in section 005, so you can only switch with someone in section 006. Clinic doesn't start until the 8th week of the semester (end Feb), so you have time perhaps. Maybe you can switch once class starts. Good luck!

I recall there were a couple of us that wanted Adventist as their site. Did you get it? I did and I am so happy that they are both close.

Yes I am in section 005, I know the instructor told me to ask the other group (the ones with yellow papers) if anyone wanted to switch, but none of the yellow group wanted to switch. I guess I have to figure it out eventually.

Nope!! :crying2: I wanted Adventist but got Silver Cross, which is the farthest from me....so I don't get it!? Oh well, I'm just still grateful to be in the program at all, so an extra 15 minutes of driving isn't gonna kill me! And...it's only once a week! Also, from what I hear....you may shift from hospital to hospital throughout the program, so what you have now isn't necessarily where you will be permanently. I just noticed on eresources that they registered us today...and I had a minor heart attack when I saw the total amount due....over $1600 due by mid Dec. and that's not even including books! Do we need to purchase a stethoscope and blood pressure cuff right away? I noticed they were selling them with the uniforms. I paid for my background check yesterday and today I went for the drug test so all I have left is my drs. appointment for my titers/immunizations on Dec. 3 and then I'll be all set I hope!

your definetly going to need a stethoscope right away. You'll be using them within the first week or so of clinical topics ..you don't really need to buy a blood pressure cuff unless you want it for your own practice! Congrats to you all again!:yeah:

Do you have a stethoscope you can recommend? I'm thinking about getting a Littman, but not sure which one yet.

Honestly, i have one from the bookstore its a Prestige and i like i havent had any issues with. I dont know if id recommened getting a Littmann just yet (they are awesome) just because they can be pretty pricey $$ and theres a good chance it may get lost (seen it happen) . I have the Littmann class 2( love it) but i refuse to bring it to clinicals in the chance that it does get lost or misplaced but its totally your call..the one i bought from the bookstore does the job just fine =):nurse:
