Harper College RN Program

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

I applied for Harper College RN for Fall 2013. Although a decision will not be made until sometimes in April, I am stressing out because I am not sure if my NLN score is high enough. I have an 88 percentile for composite, and if I add my micro, A&P I and A&P II scores, I have a total of 65 points. Is that enough? Anyone else applied recently and got accepted? What were you scores?

From reading other post that's what I gathered. You can view your status in the student portal

Yeah, I read that, however I know that portal pretty well and there is no tab for anything like that. Maybe VIA email. Well...we will see. Good luck to you!

In the portal, when you go to registration, limited enrollment, fall 2013, you open that file, and right now it says "ready for review". I guess when a decission is made, the decission will be posted in that box. Good luck to you too.

Maria you beat me to it . Good luck to you both you will be just fine

Hello i too goto harper!

im not applying until spring of 2014 though. I took nln in march and scored in the 81 percentile

Im missing physiology but i cant take it till fall semester do you guys know if im able to apply while taking the class i know the apps are due by sept :/. Also will retaking my nln be a good idea?

Because you can only do the Physiology in Fall, you could apply for the RN program for Spring 2014. And that only if you take the Physiology at Harper. If you take the Physiology at a different college, you all you prerequisite must be in your file when you apply (by the September 15, 2014), otherwise the application would not be complete. This actually happened to me. I was planning to apply for the Spring 2013, but In September 15,2012 (last date for registration) I was still enrolled in Physiology at a different college. I was told that I my prerequisites are not complete if that course is pending at a different college. As far as your NLN score is concerned, the score is more important, not so much the score. So it depends how high you scored in the verbal section, and what your grades are the prereqs. Some people said that you must score at least 55 points to have a chance of getting in. If you dont have this many points, you definitely have time to take the NLN again. Also, take Microbiology, if you haven't already, as that add points to your application.

Just to add keep in mind the median score changes every application period because it all depends on the pool of applicants

Thanks alot for all the info!! im planning on taking physio at harper ill call to make sure i can still apply :) micro bio is done an i received a B! All i need is physio and all summer classes are close (hoping someone gets dropped bcs of payment) im estimating 75 pts (asumming ill grt an A in physio) thanks again and hood luck on your application!

you can apply while taking physio at harper but you would have to meet the mean score without adding the physio grade. If you don't have the mean score they will not accept your application you would have to wait until the next application period.

I called yesterday to check on the status of the applications, and I was told that they are still receiving applications, because they are still waiting for some results of the NLN test. Apparently the college was closed on the day when a test was scheduled. So now they have to wait for the results of the rescheduled test. I was also told that there just over 80 applications for I believe 72 spots, so the chances of getting in are very high.

Oh wow that's nice but I wonder how that will affect the median score with so little applicants. Now I'm really nervous, now I feel like my chances are a bit slim, but hey its out of my hands now I did my best and the Lord shall do the rest. Good Luck to you keep me posted. I'm to nervous to call so I'm depending on you to fill me in on the median score and everything else.

Well, at least they told you that much. I did call just now, and Katie in admissions processing would only say that they have not made any decisions yet and that we should know by mid April. :-(
