Harper College RN Program
At Oakton. When I applied at Harper, I also applied at Oakton, and took some classes that would match Oakton nursing program, and some that would match Harper program. Oakton is closer to work, and had better schedule for those closes. I was actually accepted in the nursing program at Oakton too, but it seems that I will drop that. At Oakton you don't get to choose your schedule, as they assign you to prearranged groups. The schedule they gave me for the fall semester was really bad and did not fit into my work schedule. Here, at Harper, I put my clinical days on Saturday and Sunday, and this way my work schedule would only be minimally affected. Oakton is much cheaper, as a credit hour is in the 90's dollars. Although I almost fainted then I received my bill from Harper today, I hope it would be worth it, in the long run.

Harper College RN Program
It is official, just signed up for classes. I have NUR110 on Tuesday mornings, then NUR11 on Tuesdays mornings, and NUR112 o Monday afternoons and Sundays. I hope I don't need to take NUR180, because I am currently taking it at a different school, and was told I may be able to transfer it.

Well done everyone! I was on vacation for a few days, just got back in town last night and I saw I got in too. Do you guys now is there is any type of orientation we would be attending? Are they assigning us to groups, or do we get to choose our schedule? Schedule is a big deal to me, as I have a full time job that I need to keep.

Oakton Community College Fall 2011 program
I don't know if there are more applicants for fall 2013 on this forum, but I got my acceptance letter yesterday and my NLN score was 88. I am not sure if I will accept the offer because of the schedule.

I called yesterday to check on the status of the applications, and I was told that they are still receiving applications, because they are still waiting for some results of the NLN test. Apparently the college was closed on the day when a test was scheduled. So now they have to wait for the results of the rescheduled test. I was also told that there just over 80 applications for I believe 72 spots, so the chances of getting in are very high.

Because you can only do the Physiology in Fall, you could apply for the RN program for Spring 2014. And that only if you take the Physiology at Harper. If you take the Physiology at a different college, you all you prerequisite must be in your file when you apply (by the September 15, 2014), otherwise the application would not be complete. This actually happened to me. I was planning to apply for the Spring 2013, but In September 15,2012 (last date for registration) I was still enrolled in Physiology at a different college. I was told that I my prerequisites are not complete if that course is pending at a different college. As far as your NLN score is concerned, the score is more important, not so much the score. So it depends how high you scored in the verbal section, and what your grades are the prereqs. Some people said that you must score at least 55 points to have a chance of getting in. If you dont have this many points, you definitely have time to take the NLN again. Also, take Microbiology, if you haven't already, as that add points to your application.

In the portal, when you go to registration, limited enrollment, fall 2013, you open that file, and right now it says "ready for review". I guess when a decission is made, the decission will be posted in that box. Good luck to you too.

Wow, so they did not even occupy all the spots? Doesn't make much sense! They should probably say from the beggining that the minimum score to apply is....., so people won't waste time and hopes. Do you know how many spots are for the Fall?

Well done, at least you got this out of the way! Did you take Micro? I wonder how many applicants they have for Fall 2013. I did not go to the info session, but I think they first post online if we are in or not, right? Then we get the letters. Fingers crossed!!!!

How did you do at the NLN test? Did you get your results?

I bought the RN pre-nursing exam book that came with a CD which contains sample quistions for each area: verbal, science, math. For the science portion you just need to know some physics, anatomy, .... You know the type of questions, since it seems to took the test before. The verbal is horrible, I have never heard of most of the words on the test. I remeber I almost ran out of time and the last story I did not even read, just answered the questions (the one with the blood pressure). When will you take the test?

Illinois nursing question
You need to apply at harper college and take the placement tests. Depending on your score, you might or not need to take a math course. Psychology is transferable, For cHemestry is needed somehing with health core in the title, so i reccomend to take it at harper, to be sure. Before you can take A&P I you must first take a regular bio course. After you finish the A&P I, you can take A&P II. I reccomend to also take microbiology, it gives you more points at admittance at harper. If you want to apply at harper, i suggest you take your NLN at harper. If you take your NLN at oakton, you must request for an official copy of results to be sent to harper, which will cost you about $20 extra. You also need english 101 at harper, which is transferable from oakton. Thats about it. Good luck.

Harper College RN Program
I applied for Harper College RN for Fall 2013. Although a decision will not be made until sometimes in April, I am stressing out because I am not sure if my NLN score is high enough. I have an 88 percentile for composite, and if I add my micro, A&P I and A&P II scores, I have a total of 65 points. Is that enough? Anyone else applied recently and got accepted? What were you scores?
