City Colleges of Chicago: Fall 2012

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi!

I thought I would start a thread for those of us who have applied for the Fall 2012 Nursing Program at the City Colleges of Chicago. I have heard that they are letting people know on April 18th. Let's hope that's accurate because I'm so anxious to find out! Post here if you've heard anything at all in regards the the Nursing Program!

Hope to hear from everyone soon!

April 18th? I thought it was April 10th? At least that's what it said on the application. Where did you hear that we would get notified on the 18th? Either way, I hope it's soon!

I asked Tyra Ousley at Malcolm X. But maybe it IS the 10th and I am remembering wrong. That would be great, actually!

I emailed the executive director of nursing programs (Dr. Gurney) earlier today and she said we will be notified via email on or around April 10. So that could mean anything! Ahhh!

She also said that they received +1,700 applications!! WOW! Does anyone know how many spots there are available in the program?

I thought they said 300-500 at each school but, again, my remembering skills are off, apparently! I also called the Truman Nursing department and they said the same thing about the 10th. So, ahhh! Next week!! Good Luck!

Last year they were saying that they didn't even look at any applications with a GPA lower than 3.3. I hope that this is not the case this year because my gpa is only a 3.2 with an overall score of 79 on my teas v test. I hope I get into one of the programs but with 1700 + people applying, what are the chances. Well good luck everyone.......

1700 people?! Oh wow. I was confident at first but now idk. I guess we'll see next week

Wow, last I spoke with Dr. Gurney a few weeks ago she mentioned over 1500 applications, now it is over 1700!! She also mentioned that they would not get through the applications by April 10th.

During the info secion back in October, the head of Truman said there are 300-400 spots at Truman, another couple hundred at Daley or Malcom and another 80 or so at the other. Not sure how accurate that info is b/c she didn't seem to sure of much, especially reguarding the new system.

Lastly, I have heard nightmare stories of people waiting 2-3 years to get in....pretty crazy!!!

Did Dr. Gurney say when they will be able to get through all of the applications or when they are expecting to send out offer letters (emails)? I can't wait until they let us know who is accepted, hopefully it won't take that long. If I have to wait another 2 to 3 years I don't know what I will do. If anyone find out anymore info., please post. Thanks.............

Oh man. I hope that they get through the applications by then! I am already so anxious!

I really hope the information I received was wrong because I do know how anxious everyone is. I called about a week and a half ago and they said they HOPE, they would be ready to send out emails by the beginning of May. I talked to someone at the nursing dept at Truman.

Good luck everyone and I hope we are all classmates in a few months.

Spoke to Dr. Gurney today. I was told the answers are going out tomorrow. However, I was told that if we did not put our CCC email address on the application we risk not receiving an e-mail from them. This got me rather frustrated as I don't remember ever reading in the instructions to put our CCC e-mail down.
