Has anyone attended Northwestern Institute of Health and Technology in Chicago? If so, can you tell me a little about the LPN program.

With the city colleges' long wait list, I'm looking into Brown Mackie or Northwestern Institute of Health and Technology. Once I receive my RN license, I plan to study for MSN-NP. Thanks in advance.

Well... I guess not.

I visited the school and spoke with a few students myself. Thanks.

Enjoy your week everyone.

MY SISTER IN LAW JUST GRADUATED FROM BROWN MACKIE. I WAS ACCEPTED INTO KENNEDY KING'S LPN PROGRAM AND DID NOT HAVE TO WAIT, AS A MATTER OF FACT I APPLIED TOWARD THE END OF THE SUMMER AND GOT IN THAT FALL (IT IS A CITY COLLEGE) AND THE TUITION TOTAL WAS ABOUT $3000-4000. I ALSO GOT INTO A BSN PROGRAM AT CHICAGO STATE SO I DIDN'T ATTEND THE LPN PROGRAM. MACKIE BROWN IS VERY EXPENSIVE!! SHE PAID PROBABLY CLOSE TO $20,000 FOR THEIR LPN PROGRAM ! WELL GOOD LUCK WITH WHAT EVER DECISION YOU MAKE BUT CHECK OUT KENNEDY KING

Specializes in Urgent Care NP, Emergency Nursing, Camp Nursing.

There's no need to shout...

There's no need to shout...

:coollook::yeah::heartbeat...but i appreciate the info.

wasn't shouting, the cap was on and I didn't feel like retyping everything so i left it.

RossaysoonRN,

Thanks for your relpy and the information. I passed the entrance exam November 7th at Brown Mackie and I'm STILL waiting for a representative to call and get started. In the midst of waiting, I visited Northwestern Institute of Health and Technology and they do not have a waiting list. It costs between 10K - 13K depending on your pre-req.'s. The next batch starts in February, 2009 and every four months thereafter. Also, you may take your five week pre-req.'s at the school.

In reference to KKC, I would need to take A&P I & II. I took chemistry this semester and should have taken A&P. My sister was accepted to St. Xavier and looking into KKC for her RN and having her place of employment pay 100% at St. Xavier.

I guess I'll keep looking. Oh, Coalition for African American Nurses will start an LPN program in March or April, 2009. They have an LPN program for HS students and seeking approval for the adult LPN program. The tuition is 14,500.

Once again, thanks.

hi....new to this site. i am also trying to get into an lpn program. Looking into pccti or Northwestern institute. any advice or tips??

hello and welcome.

I don't know anything about those schools but I would find out what prerequisites I need for both programs, when they start, how much they cost, and if I need to take any entrance exams such as ATI etc so that I could prepare for it. A lot of programs are starting the beginning of the year so it might be too late to apply for this year unless they have more than one starting class a year.

Hi, i just graduated from Brown Mackie in November, took my nclex in december, passed and now i would like to know what is next. Can I work with the results i got off of the computer?

Brown Mackie preq.'s consist of:

1. Entrance Exam

2. May transfer A&P I and II, Psychology, and Microcomputer

3. Tuition depends on tansfer credits (total tuition up to 18 to 25K)

Northwestern Institute of Health and Technology

1. Entrance Exam

2. Math for Health Care Field

3. Microcomputer

4. Medical Terminology

5. General Psychology

6. English 101

(You may test out of English and Computer courses)

7. CNET exam AFTER taking pre-req.'s to enter into Nursing program

(you may take the exam three times)

8. Tuition between 14-17K

Yes, both school are EXPENSIVE! Unfortunately, everyone does not make the grade for RN admissions and/or acceptance. Some students' do not mind paying for the convenience, location, no wait list, smaller classes and block class schedule in the event to bridge over into the RN programs.

St. Xavier will accept Brown Mackie courses.

Northwestern Institute of Health and Technology courses are accepted through the Illinois Articulation Initiatve (www.itransfer.org) program therefore accepted at the community college level.

Brown Mackie is accredited in Indiana (BON and Dept. of Regulation)

NWIHT is accredited in IL (BON and IDPR)

There are additional accredition organizations such as NLN, etc. At the end of the day, we all must be certain (with tangible evidence) that each program is accredited and courses are transferrable for those seeking to become a RN and NP. Please double check information. I hope this helps.

Happy holiday!

I went there today and they have some updates for 2009.
