I was hired at this blessed office early this year. I found out that shortly before my hire the State and DPHCS came through on a complaint to survey.
Our office is a mess and was even worse at the time.
They nurses got the brunt of the complaint. Poor documentation, and poor care planning caused big issues.
I step in a pile of dung at this point! Our office was given a 15 page plan of correction. Our nursing notes are audited daily.
This in itself is not an issue.
But our 4 page routine weekly visit note is. I counted over 150 boxes to read, and check off. This includes ready? ICD or pacemaker, sex of patient, ( like that will not change week to week ) disaster code ( also will not change week to week ) But these boxes are easy to over look, miss and omit all together. EVERY STAFF MEMBER for nursing has been asked to come in twice a week and clean up turned in notes for 100% compliance.
Yesterday my manager told me that I along with the bulk of the nursing staff will need to come in daily and review notes with our manager. I told her this will hurt productivity and indeed cause OT with our current patient load.. But it feel on deaf ears.
I am told what a stellar nurse I am. I am told I am super on productivity. I am told that my patients love me. I am told that I don't work OT. I am told my documentation is substandard. I have gotten emails, voice mails, notes, sticky notes and the most recent a hot pink notice from some higher up at corporate saying how bad we all are. I told my manager after 8 years of hospice nursing I have never been told that. I just finished my 3 month probationary period and doubt I will make it to 6 months. I am actively seeking employment elsewhere as are our other staff. I told her nurses are going to be walking and I told her I am actively seeking employment as well. It appears as though I am substandard and do not meet their needs..
My manager immediately got upset and said that it's not the message they are sending but indeed it is. I give up. I really do. I am about to toss in the towel on hospice and look at other opportunities.
