CNA Waiting to be accepted into an RN program

Hello all

I have become a CNA in LTC in order to gain experience in my goal to become an RN.

As I was completing my pre reqs I really had no goal as to a specialty in nursing.

my learning experience in LTC has promoted an interest in HOSPICE.

I just finished reading the wonderful and emotional articles in the HOSPICE section of Allnurses and immediately realized that HOSPICE is the specialty I want as an RN

I would like to ask a question . Are there openings in HOSPICE CARE for a CNA

i have read the term HOSPICE AID , I would appreciate any information on this subject.

i am very happy and excited to have found a specialty path in my future as an RN.

I would contact your local hospices and see. Yes, there are usually CNA's who work with patients who are on hospice. Some home health agencies also work with hospice patients.

Be clear with them your ultimate goal, and I think that there are several levels of certifications that one can get specific to hospice. Speak with the director regarding how you are proceeding.

I know of several RNs who began their careers as hospice nursing aids and now practice as hospice case managers.

Hospices must provide CNA service to any interested patients, whether in a home or facility. It is part of the standard benefit. So hospices hire a lot of CNAs. It is a special type of work and very autonomous. You should definitely apply. The local hospices here are always hiring CNAs.
