Hi there! I've been doing some research lately on holistic nursing (healing touch, and massage therepy) and I am very interested in possibly getting certified in this once I'm done with nursing school. I don't start nursing school till fall, but I hope to work in a hospice setting eventually! I am volunteering in Jan. for hospice. Anyway, if anyone could give me advice/opinions about using holistic health in nursing I would really appriciate it. Also, I will be moving back to ohio in the summer and going to n. school there, how does one become holistically certified in their state? Thanks so much as always!:D Louisepug

HT Practicioner is a 6 part course. I am on Level 3. Each class for me was $300.00. + books. The next one is around $400.00 + you must stay on grounds for the 3 day school, there is a motel fee on top of tuition. I'm not sure how much level 6 is. I'm going to finish my cert. Find a holistic college and/or a metaphysical church and get started with classes. They are nearly the same and you learn many modalities. Go for it.

I'm not aware of any state that has guidlines for becoming a "Holistic Nurse". "Holistic Nurse Certification" usually is a title given by a school with a holistic cont. ed. program. However, the AHNA (American Holistic Nurses Association) now has a National Certification available. The only potential drawback for some nurses is that in order to become certified by the AHNC is that you must have a BSN.

I use holistic practices (aroma therapy, reflexology, ETPS, etc.) everyday to treat a variety of things (I am a Nurse Practitioner). :)

I'm starting Nursing School in the fall '05. I too want to incorporate Holistic health into my nursing as well. I'm a certified REIKI practitioner, which is similar to healing touch. My step mom is in the process of getting her ND (natural DOctor) License, so it's a family thing around here! GOOD LUCK!

My husband a a Chriopractic Physician in Utah uses alot modalities Like Clinical hypnosis when adjusting his Pt's works like a charm to get them to relax.

You may in a regular hospitail setting have problems getting other nursing staff to accept them.
