Why Are You A Nurse?
hey everyone! i created this thread last february and i am still interested in your answers as to why you are a nurse. i am a freshmen nursing student at george mason university which i am thrilled about! i am soo excited to be a nurse and make a difference but i feel that sometimes nurses don't get enough credit for what they do. so i hope this lifts you up and makes you aware of how important and incredible you all are! when i was in 6th grade i was burned with boiling water and hospitilized for quite a while. ms. malone, i'll never forget her, she was my favorite nurse, always there for me even if i wasn't her patient that day. [color=cyan]her kind heart and caring attitude really inspired me to become a nurse and as i like to say "save the world"! everday nurses like you change people lives whether it be being there with a patient while they're afraid, giving an awesome shot to a 6 year old, or fighting with all you've got for the welfare of a patient and what you believe in, [color=lime]you make a difference! i truly want to thank you, all of you, for being brave enough to care, and put yourself and your heart out there in order to make a difference! i can't wait until i am able to become a part of people's lives and make a difference. "there are some who live for caring with all they have to give. there are some who will always be there. they dare to care, they dare to cry, they dare to feel, they dare to try, they dare to be at the end of the day, more than they were the day before. there are some who find their treasure inside a grateful smile, there are some who have comfort to share, there are some who take the journey just to find out who they are. there are some who have a courage to care, there are some who dare to care!" ~johnson & johnson, campaign for nursing's future i have interned at a pediatric hospital and i know at times you may think, "why am i doing this?" but when that cloud comes over you think about the many lives that you have made better. by lending an ear, giving a smile, teaching, comforting, and saving! from the bottom of my heart, i thank and solute every single nurse for being who you are! this is who i am! there is nothing i would rather be! i'm going to be a nurse!!! [color=deepskyblue]stay strong! stay proud! stay bold! stay true! stay you! you do make a difference! so my question is....why are you a nurse? thanks again! ~brad future nurse warn: (0%)

Does the term 'Nurse' bother you?
I'm started Nursing School in 2 Weeks, and I CAN'T WAIT until one day I will be able to say WITH GREAT PRIDE..."I'm A Nurse" A Nurse is WHO I AM! I have No Problem being called a nurse in fact I LOVE IT! It gives me goose bumps! My family Even Calls me "NIT" Nurse In Training, and when people ask me..."Why not just be a doctor?" I say Don't insult me please...I'm gonna be a NURSE! :)

Would you go for your PA?
I have been treated by and talked to both an NP and a PA. In my opinion NPs ROCK! While it may just be because of the individual care giver and not the title I feel like NPs focus more on me a person, they take time and explain and listen. Whereas the PA just saw my injury. Nursing is Nursing and that is an incredible, I'm gonna be a NP because I want to nurse people and heal them not cure and illness. But everyone's different and has different views, just my 2 cents!

2 Things...I Need Some Input!
Alright Gentlemen, I'm just gonna be open, and please answer HONESTLY! 1. Do you have to wear, briefs, boxer briefs, or anything tight fitting in order to 'minimize jiggle and bounce'? I DO, otherwise in those scrubs I'm just jigglin' a little too much! 2. Why is it the stereotype that male nurses are all gay? Any Ideas? Know any stats? Please Inform. Thanks A Lot Gentlemen!

Littman's are great! I personally use a sprague, it's a good one, but lots of people I know like Littman as well.

"She's Just A Nurse"
hi! i'm a senior in highschool and a future nurse, which i'm thrilled about! but i just had a quick comment and wanted some feedback. one of the secretaries at my school really hurt her back so she saw a chiropractor. after seeing him for several weeks her condition did not get any better, and sometimes felt worse. so my school nurse was talking to her and recommended getting an mri just to be safe, and another nurse who the secretary spoke to told her the same thing. when she talked to her chiropractor about refering her he said that he wouldn't really trust them because their just nurses and don't really know to much! i almost fell out of my chair and i actually did scream wtf! no way! this is so ridiculous. i'm just curious as to why people think that nurses are so insignificant and unimportant, any ideas? i'm gonna be a nurse and help people no matter what others think or say about me, it's who i am, but i just can't understand why people think this. thanks so much for all that you do! ~brad. future nurse "we dare to care we dare to cry we dare to feel we dare to try we dare to be at the end of the day more than we were the day before!"
