Your school and the HESI exit exam

Nursing Students HESI

Published

At my particular college we have to pass the HESI with a 900 at the end of our second year. this makes me very nervous and here is the reason. We have began to take "practice exams from HESI" on the computer at the end of each qtr. Well, by their standards I failed miserably with an 820. A lot of the second yr students I know said that we can only take it 3 times without failing out of the program. What does your school's policies state? I have been studying my rear off with the NCLEX book and I love it! Do you all thin this will prepare me to ace the HESI? I am so nervous and it is a whole year away..haha INPUT PLEASE!!

Well I am getting ready to take my exit Hesi tomorrow (Friday). I have used Saunders & can tear up those type of questions......but I also have the Hesi book & CD, & I pretty much stink on those practice tests. SOOOO I guess I can let you know tomorrow if Nclex books work for the exit Hesi. I am getting a little stressed....so if ya'll don't mind I need your prayers. I have to score a 900 or above, but would be tickled to death w/900!!! I keep telling myself

I can, I can, I know I can......:uhoh21:

My school requires you to pass the HESI exit in order to obtain your degree. Problem is we weren't introduced to HESI until our 2nd sem. of our senior year, and on top of that, we had critical care class and clinicals. There was not much time to prepare for the exit. We didn't have tests throughout our 4 years with HESI like other schools. After 3 attempt to pass HESI w/ 900 or better, you will not be able get a degree and you will be out of the program, and there is no taking class or test over. So pretty much 4-5 years out the window. I'm one of those students. It's a pretty new program, but you would think they could've gotten the message from the past classes they graduated and change things, but things got worst. First 2 out of 5 students didn't pass in 2003(ADN), then 3 out of 7 didn't get their degree in 2005(1st BSN class), and now 6 out of 12 in 2006. So you got 11 students out there w/ no degree. :nono: Now the school is considering changes. That's great!! But what about the students who were held accountable for the school's inadequate preparation?!

Gosh, I'm so sorry that you've had to endure this heartbreaking news. I'm a little confused though.. you can't even repeat the class? I don't get that!! Most schools will at least let you repeat the semester/class that you weren't successful in!

We only took the HESI mid-curricular and now we'll take in again in December as Exit. We need to pass with a 900 to be able to graduate with our class, so I'll be studying my butt off when the time comes. I managed a 997 on the first one.

Isn't there any way to re-take your last semester or class?

I'm really sorry. ((((((((hugs))))))) :(

HELP! I am graduating and we have to take the Exit HESI to get our diplomas. I have already taken it 3 times...815, 756, 816 are my scores...Need an 850...I have used Saunders, Springhouse, Kaplan, and the HESI book to study. I have done over 5,000 questions since September, I don't know why I can't pass this thing. Anyone have any advice? Thanks! Next retake is in 9 days!

******UPDATE*********Well Well..GOD IS GOOD! Here I am..6 years later after completing my studies in my BSN program (in 2006)..and I was able to come back to my old nursing school..repeat a course and took the HESI exit exam and PASSED on March 2, 2012! Yes it was years later..but I'm forever so grateful for the opportunity! It was trying..trust me..but I took my time and just studied my weak areas..didn't really use the HESI book that much..mostly Saunders. I want to thank you all that thought of me and share kind words of encouragements! For those who have a similar situation as mine...IT CAN BE DONE! It may not be when YOU want it...but with time and patience..God will make a way!
