Just Finished Taking the Hesi!

Hope I don't make this too lengthy, but here I go! I spent about 3 weeks preparing (not everyday but most..I don't even think it required that much studying). I practically stalked this website lol. I think I have read every Hesi related post. Took the Hesi today here are my results:

Reading Comprehension - 96%

Grammar - 92%

Math - 96%

Anatomy & Physiology - 88%

Cumulative Score - 93%

I took the test in that order. Had a calculator for math. Something I didn't know, but I guess its cool, is that you can see your score after each section.

I used the Hesi Evolve study guide 2nd edition and 3rd. There is really not much of a difference. I also bought McGraw Hill 3 Evolve Reach (Hesi) Practice Test book. In my opinion the test could be completed successfully with just the Hesi Evolve study guide, but if you have an extra 20 ish to spend the McGraw Hill book is good.

Reading Comprehension - 55 Questions

-The passages were not long. I think I had about 8. It was even easier then the material I had been practicing. I don't know what else to say about this section, but it was definitely easy.

Grammar - 55 Questions

-It was pretty much what was in the Hesi Study guide book. (Which sentence is grammatically correct/which sentence is not grammatically correct/which word correctly completes the sentence etc...) It is pretty much what sounds right.

-One thing that was on there that I didn't see in the book was put these words in alphabetical order (simple)

Math - 55 Questions

-I am not a math person, but it is what is in the book. I had fractions, ratios and proportions, word problems, percentages, and conversions (volume). There were more fill in problems than I thought it would be. I would say I had 8-10.

Anatomy & Physiology - 30 Questions

-I was most nervous about this section. I mean I seriously was freaking out about this section. I finished it in 8 minutes and 39 seconds lol. It was random stuff. If you have at least taken Anatomy you should do ok. Muscles, hormones, osmosis, tissues...stuff like that.

Those are awesome scores...I will be taking mine soon and I also have both edition, but I was a bit surprise that the 3rd edition had Algebra. Were you able to go back and change your answer or once you submit your answer there's no going back? Great luck and now that your nerves are over mine is beginning. Thanks.

If i am taking a and p seperately and i complete a before my exam and p afterwards would the study guide be sufficient enough to study? I will take my test next feb and will have my p class a month into the semester.

Did you have any spelling questions, like which word is spelled correctly? Or any straight out, what is the definition of this vocabulary word?

No you can't go back and change your answers. I didn't have any algebra questions on mine. I didn't even have dividing or multiplying fractions, mine were all adding and subtracting. I am sure there are versions with it on there i just didn't have any. Good luck to you, and trust me it is not that bad if you go over the study guide practice problems you should be fine!

I would say 80% was stuff I learned in Anatomy (I took mine separately as well). I had several questions about the skin, hormones, one about chemoreceptors (that topic is in the study guide). I would say read through the study guide and use what you know to eliminate some answers.

I actually didn't have any questions about spelling, or they were so easy I can't remember. Pretty sure I didn't. I had several "what is the meaning of the underlined word as used in the passage" in the reading section. It was extremely easy! The other 3 answers do not even go with the story so the correct answer sticks out instantly! I also had one question that was like which sentence uses the underlined word in the same meaning as it is used in the passage. Once again the answer stuck out.

I tried searching for the study guide your referring to and I'm not sure which one to get???

On amazon you search for "hesi a2 study guide" ad the first one to come up (should be a purple book) is the hesi evolve study guide made by the makers of hesi and the 4th option should be an orange and white book by McGraw Hill that's the 3 practice test.

I apply for Bergen community college and im going to take the exam this Saturday. can someone help me on the reading, biology, chemistry, vocabulary and maths. well maths is not really my problem but the rest.
