HESI A2 - Math portion

Hello all, I am trying to determine what math skills to study for the math portion of HESI. I am considering taking intermediate algebra over the summer. Do you think this course is sufficient to help prepare? I haven't taken any math pre-Reqs and barely passed the math TSI (been out of school 12 yrs). Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

HMMMM I got a 96% on the math section and here's what I remember being in my test:

-Ratio and Proportions

-Measurement Conversions (household, metric, u.s.)

-Algebra

-Fractions!! (multiplying or dividing)

-Decimals and percents

I think that about sums it up! :) Get familiar with word problems too!

I got a 100% on the math section. Intermediate algebra will be more than sufficient in obtaining a good score. Good luck!

Honestly, if you get the Elsevier Admission Assessment Exam Review, 3rd Edition, you will be just fine. It covers everything that you need to know for the math portion! I got a 92% on math with only studying from that guide. Though there is some algebra on the math portion, there is also a lot of other things that they test you over. I personally remember ALOT of fractions and ratios! Hope that helps :)

I got a 100% in the math portion when I took it in January, and I only went through the Elsevier Study Guide a couple of days before.

I was worried about word problems or forgetting conversions, but I was surprised how few conversions I had --- 3 questions to be exact, and one of them was METERS SQUARED TO CM!! That conversion wasn't anywhere in the review, but I must've got it right.

About 1/2 of my problems were fill in the answer, and I hadn't seen anyone on these threads that reported more than 10 fill-ins, and about 26 of my questions were fractions and 18 were decimals and percents.

I ended up spending 50minutes on this part, bc I double checked each answer.

I just took my Hesi exam today. I'm super excited because I passed on the first try. Math is not my best subject.I remember there were a lot of proportions and fractions. There were addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. They were pretty much well rounded.

Like you, I'm concerned about my math proficiency after so many years of being out of school. Rather than take a course I decided it made more sense to find a math professor who wants to make some side money to tutor me. That way, I get specialized attention on specific subject matter that is important to me passing the HESI. We haven't started yet but I'll let you know how it goes.
