Hola, I have been a nurse for 8 years. I have a strong background in ICU. I have been on Adderall and Xanax for 10 years. I have always stopped taking my medication prior to a job interview. Always tested clean even though I always had prescriptions. I didn't want to be judged :(. I've been stable on these meds for so long but I feel like if I take them and test positive on my pre employment drug test it will show as a sign if instability and weakness.

Can anyone give me their experience with this matter?

I have taken this medication consistently. I have never had a sentinel event. I have never been impaired at work. Each job I get I get promoted quickly.

Please give me any advice., has anyone heard of employment not being moved forward because of a positive drug screen even if I have current prescriptions.

For goodness' sake, stay on your medications! They are what helps you to remain stable and do your nursing stuff so well. You have scripts for both meds, and your boss will never see the results anyway so not to worry. I've taken benzos for at least a dozen years, and never had a minute of trouble with any employer I worked for during that time. Don't sweat it.

They're your meds, your doctor prescribed them for your medical condition. Your employer doesn't get to know that you're taking them, it's NOTB!!

What happens is you take the test and it's sent for testing, it comes back positive and the medical review officer calls your or contacts you and asks for documentation. You provide said documentation and the screen is reported as negative, because it is.

They are only required to report it positive if it is for illegal medications, which you are taking yours legally.

Any Updates on this? I just took a pre-employment drug test and was positive for adderall and xanax, which I have a prescription for both. Today has been 12 days and I'm still not cleared.... I'm so worried.

I stopped taking ambien (have a script) for a week because my travel recruiter was concerned about it. She had told me the 7 priors presented to this position were denied because of drug usage. We were not sure if that meant legal or illegal.
