Navy NCP FY2014 'Role call'

Hi all,

I' d like to connect with other Navy NCP FY 2014 students. There was a thread started awhile back about someone starting a FB page for us but no one replies to the 'friend request' :-( Any 2014'ers out there?

I live in IL, married with children, and my husband is a retired Seabee. I graduate April 2014, hope to take the NCLEX in June '14.

I'm also affected by a delay until May....wondering if anyone else that put in their kit in Oct also experienced this...

Hey, I graduate in December of 2013 and have been accepted but don't sign until the first week in May. So, do you know anything about filling out dream sheets or finding out where the first duty station will be? My recruiter doesn't know when I find out that kind of stuff. I'm in SD and also am married with kids :D Glad I'm not the only one!

I've been wondering if there were any of "us" out there! I see all these posts for the FY12, 13, and even 15...but not a peep from our group. I'm in the same boat... because of everything that's going on, I don't officially sign until May. I'm "on the list"...made it...but just can't collect the stipend :-( From what I understand, we won't be working on the dream sheets or anything else for awhile. May is not guaranteed either...May was the projected "date"...but if this sequester and fiscal disaster aren't resolved by then, we could get pushed off "until further notice." From what I understand, we really aren't going to find out about first duty stations until what I consider...the last minute....just a couple of months before graduation. Makes it hard when you have kids...I want to do my best to put my girls in the best schools...tough to do with only a couple of months notice!

I sign on May 3rd. From what I understand it's all set up now thankfully. I've been at this since august so it's going to be wonderful to get it all finished. So have you started doing anything as far as training yet? I've started running but it's not my strong suit to say the least lol. Where do you think you're going to try for? I'm thinking Portsmouth will be my first choice so we'll see how that works out for me :)

I sign in May as well! I'm not married and I have no kids, but I am also in California. I'm hoping for SD but I'll go anywhere.

My recruiter told me there were only 36 of us, so if that's true, great job everyone!

Really, only 36 huh? That's crazy. Did they decide not to fill all 70 spots I wonder? If that's the case, I'm glad I got in when I did! Oh and I'm in S.outh D.akota lol :) I will most certainly go anywhere!

My recruiter called yesterday...processing and swearing in May 1! He didn't mention there were only 36 of us! Did they only take 36 or did only 36 put a kit in?

Man, there must not be too many of us on here! So, do you know what signing includes? My recruiter said I didn't need to know anything for the swearing in. Have you been told anything different?

Hey guys! I just found out today that I have been accepted into the NCP!!! I am so excited! I have actually been lurking on this thread for the past couple weeks just hoping and waiting to hear some news about my application. (It has been a loooong process for me.) My recruiter said that 35 nursing students were accepted just recently from all over the country, so hopefully we'll get some more people in this thread soon!

I sign my papers next Wednesday. I'll be graduating in May 2014, taking the NCLEX sometime that summer, then shipping off to ODS soon after. I am so thrilled about this! My entire family has served in the military (mostly in the Army), so I'm very excited to be following in their footsteps. :)

Congrats! It's exciting huh? It's nice to have the weight of not knowing lifted off your shoulders! I started this process in July and am just signing this Friday! It seems like it's been forever!

Thank you, slc1984! Congrats to you too! :) It is such a relief just to know that I have a JOB! I can't get over the excitement. I can't wait till we graduate and become real Navy nurses!

Well I had my swearing in ceremony yesterday... It's finally 'official'! It was terrific...Perfect weather...did it in front of the first building built at NAVSTA Great Lakes, and had a handful of witnesses (mostly Seabees and CEC officers) - thanks to my husband! It was a perfect mixture of excitement, anticipation, relief, and nervousness. It was a long time in the making... now I can chill, focus on rockin' at school...oh, and PT. Lol

Did anyone else swear in this week?
