Yea I'm sorry, Im not able to PM yet. Didn't hit my post quota yet. Haha. That's great you know people near by. I'm using the gym/pool here at my apartment to try and meet some people. There's a big military population here.

You guys have to find your own apartment for BOLC? I would have thought the army housed you on base?

No you're right. They do provde housing unless you're PCS'ing to Fort Sam after BOLC. Meaning we have to drive in everyday of training. Fun fun fun.

If your permanent command station is not Fort Sam Houston, you will be housed by the Army for BOLC, so no worries!!! It's for those who have been assigned here for our first station in addition to BOLC that have to find housing because we will be here 2-3 years.

Gotcha! thanks for clearing that up! do they offer housing on base for officers after you finish your training? or are you required to get an apartment off base?

Very rare to get housing on base as anything if you are single. If you are married, better chance. If you are married with children, even better chance to get base housing....however, there is sometimes a "wait" list for even that!

Care&Joy, You're gonna show us all around, right?

BTW If anyone wants/needs boots, I have a pair of Danner TFX Women's Gore-Tex Rough-Out boots size 8 for sale for $150 OBO. I wore them twice for about an hour outside each time and realized I needed the next half size up. I find this brand super comfy ( http://www.danner.com/desert-tfxr-wo...ary-boots.html ). PM me if interested, they'll be at BOLC with me.

Oh, sureeeeeee, I'll show you how to get lost on base no prob! lol.
I bought 2 pairs Danners at the base & have been wearing the 1 pair around... but am thinking I need a smaller size now after they squooshed down from walking. Hope they're not too big on me now. I might have to double-sock it...no matter how hot that will be
