Hello All

Happy 2009

Hopefully it'll be a wonderful year for all!

Question: Can a RN have more than one identifier in the ANC ? i.e. I am a 66H 5M Commissioned Officer. Can I now earn my hours and obtain an 8A identifier ?

Geez, well my response would be that, just like in the civilian world there is a critical shortage of both ED nurses and ICU nurses within the ANC.

Please forgive my napping neurons, but are you AD or Reserves?

If you are in the Reserves and working in critical care ask your Chief Nurse at your TPU since she/he is the one to gather all the necessary paperwork, credentials etc from the 66H's and submit it to Branch. Your Chief Nurse would be able to give you a definitive answer to that one.

I was never enlisted, and I do know that Enlisted Soldiers can have multiple MOS' and the Army being the Army will pick and choose which one of those MOS' it needs to fill whichever slot!:rolleyes:

Anyone else "out there" with a more concrete answer?

Hi I also wanted to add that as AD if you have the ASI 8A, in my experience with the ANC, "once an 8A, always an 8A". As I said there is such a critical shortage of 8A RN's that the ANC will use you (and re-use you:nuke:) according to the needs of the Army.

When you Commissioned did you ask for the generic CCNC ? You'd might want to write to Branch and ask them? I wish I could be of more help, but I am hopeful that someone out there will be able to give you a more direct, correct answer :up:

thanks for your posts. I am RD. I commissioned as a 5M. I gave up my civilian ER job however after commissioning as the management team there was not happy I commissioned in the military (long story they were not military friendly, there's a RN there in the Guard who does a lot of schools and takes off on them at a moment's notice to attend and apparently they thought it was going to be the same w/ me although i am much more responsible and personally hold myself accountable) and made things rather difficult and I resigned. I am slated to start a new job working on a PCU which I know the army will consider as CCU hours. I kind of figured my answer already and kind of knew that you could have as many identifiers as you can earn just like degrees but wanted to be sure.

I too am AR-8A, and was just wondering if I decided to change specialities in the civilian world if I can get the new identifier (after I have fulfilled the hour requirements of course).

Edie...not sure that the Army will consider PCU for 8A, if you like I will email you the checklist requirments.
