Hi,

has anyone else applied for the army nurse corps reserves for the 2016 fy. My packet goes to the selection board in October. Does anyone know how many applicants they are taking, or have any information on what they really look for during the selection process?

Specializes in OR.

Sorry, I don't have any info for you. I am curious to see how the process goes for you so please update if possible! Best of luck!!

The board has met. Waiting on release.

I think they already released, I already found out and got commissioned last week :)

I applied for 66H (Medical-Surgical) for Reserves and know (per my recruiter) that my packet made the November board which she said met Nov 17-20. She said those days were specific to nurse corps. She also said it would be a few weeks to get official word for selection...Im hoping to know this coming week or maybe the week after? Im sure things might take a while with Thanksgiving but she said definitely before christmas.

I am not sure of Active duty, but I think she said only a few slots were open. From what she said, she ballparked about 45 slots (for 66h) for my region (have no idea how big this region is), and about 100-120 slots for the country. Not official numbers and those could have changed. I know I was the only applicant from my state for 66H reserves. Furthermore, my recruiter said I probably wouldnt start drilling until February... it takes a while to get orders.

Best of luck and I will post when I hear news! :)

Congrats! Active Duty or Reserves? What is your specialty?

Specializes in EMT, ER, Homehealth, OR.

Did the total of 100-120 include ROTC or just direct commissions? Not all ROTC grads are guaranteed an active duty slot now. The last couple years the DA slots have been there than 20 for active duty. I am not sure what the reserve numbers were.

I have no idea but I believe the ROTC commissions were separate. I think the selection for ROTC/NCP/HPSP was all at one board. For DA I was told 5 slots for AD, targeting ER/ICU RNs.

The board dates were Nov 17-20. Apparently, some results were released. Mine came back pending an age-in-grade waiver. Not sure exactly how long that is going to take. Good luck to you smsoftball08!! And congrats to you Saramarie14!!!!

66H I made the October board though, that's probably why my results were in already

Congrats Marine7! Did you find out via your recruiter or was it posted somewhere?
