And in answer to your other question - good heavens yes, OR nurses are used at forward locations.

I found a site somewhere, can't remember, but I printed it. I think it is current but things change constantly. Peterson, CO, Andrews, MD - Eglin, FL - Keesler, MS - Lackland, TX - Langley, VA - Mt Home, ID - Nellis, NV - Travis, CA - Wright Pat, OH - Elmendorf, AK - Italy, Germany, England, Japan, and Korea.

I had two friends who spouses were OR - deployed like clockwork.

I think Lackland is a big one for trauma/OR.

Just don't forget that Wilford Hall will be closing and the hospital services will be moving to BAMC.

Just a word of caution: When looking at these manning documents they are often out of date ie. I know for fact there is quite of few of these that don't have hospitals or ASCs. The best thing to do is look up the base and go to the medical information home page. It should give you the information you are looking for.

You are quite correct, and I meant to go back and add that little caveat. However, it's not a bad starting point.

Nope, it is actually a great starting point and a lot of help for someone making their 1st choice in bases. The only reason I say anything is because I used one of the these manning documents to pick my 1st duty station. It was listed as a large regional military hospital.....well anyways it was in the process of closing as a hospital when I got stationed there. Lesson learned I should have done more homework before picking it as my assignment.
