Okay, so I realize this isn't the pressing life or death question, but I'm just so mentally pooped, I can't come up with anything for Decembers newsletter for the Resident Care Directors column. Any help with my cranial deimpaction to re-establish my ability to write something would be greatly appreciated. Anyone know what the disease du jour is for December?

Thanks in advance!

DKA? Fluid overload? *just kidding*

When I get writer's block, I break out my one great secret sin, the thing that's hidden in the back of the lingerie drawer that nobody knows about.

Legos. Seriously.

When I get a brain freeze, I play with legos. I make things, play with colors and shapes. I don't know if it's my engineer side, the kid side, or what, but because I'm doing something so "low tech" it unlocks the brain.

I guess maybe Lincoln Logs would also work, but they take up more space.

Ugggh!! perhaps i should have read further than the back of the lingerie drawer because I used a whole different divergence tool....and now for some reason I feel the need to write about sexuality in the elderly and have a ho! ho! ho! xmas!.

Seriously, I think i might see if liquid lube like gin and olives with a ceremonial thought to vermouth can get things going!

:hhmth: Too funny! BUT!

There's your idea!!!Sexuality in the elderly!!!

How about seasonal affective disorder?

How about something cheerful like the positive affects the holidays have on people and how this influences their health. Unless you want to go the opposite direction and discuss the increase suicide rates over the holidays. Personally I would go with the first. I recently heard that happiness and contentedness are related to decrease risk of Alzheimers!!

This is effing brilliant. I tend to dive into the mending pile, crochet cat toys, or bust out the crayons/colored pencils, but the idea is the same.

How about (and don't flame me) spelling DIS-IMPACTION the correct way! I had a friend who was a great nurse. Poor thing couldn't spell to save her life. I was reviewing charts one day. She wrote on the dementia unit that the residents had 'cognitive deficate'. I busted a gut laughing at her. She meant to write deficit...she ended up writing sh*$ for brains!

Dagnabbit! I thought the spelling police were on strike with the grammar police! point taken, and my spelling usually is quite decent.

Thanks for the advice, I'm going with the physiological responses to physical touch etc..and tying it in with the holidays. Thanks for the help you all!
