Our facility happens to be a polling place-that's convenient- but what concerns me is that out of the list of residents registered maybe 96% of them are really not competent to vote.I'm sure they probably just vote their party Now-can I maybe take the republicans to the vending machines and tell them it's the voting machine?:rotfl:

Anyone who would continue to re-elect Senators Kennedy or Kerry could hardly be considered competent or cognitively intact, but it happens nonetheless.

I worked in a very similar situation in Nov. 2004. Many people who didn't even know the names of the family members who were coming to visit them were registered to vote and I believe some did.

Yes, our patients have the right to refuse treatment, sign out AMA, and vote for anyone they please whether it be for Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, or Nacho Cheese Doritos!

I don't think any state requires LOC at the polls although a few do limit alcohol sales on election day.

Now that the Dems control the senate and the house, I hope they will get us out of Iraq and that they were not just blowing smoke. Maybe they can set a timetable, I think Christmas at home would be a nice gift for our troops although I guess they don't get sworn in until what, January? I'll settle for Valentines day.

dream on...let's not turn a nursing site into political discussion.....the last time we mixed religion with politics, people got burned at the stake!

Actually, I would be glad to leave politics out of here but there are threads and topics that invite political discussion. Just as I'd love to have nursing without code browns but sometimes that's part of the job.:)

I think you'll find plenty of threads that only focus on job skills or charting issues. Consider any topic that mentions voting, unions, activism, or insurance to have a high likelyhood of political discussion. Just as I consider a dialysis pt with amputations likely to need a BS check. ;)

It's up to the politicians to step in and fix the healthcare system-the 2 are intertwined.I can't think of anything more appropriate to discuss.....
