Yes. You have to get fingerprinted. If I remember right, the locations are listed on the background check website. They're all in Georgia so you can't get fingerprinted in your state and have them sent to GA if you're not already there yet which is a pain.

I endorsed my license from Oregon. I did do my fingerprints in oregon then sent them to GA Cogentid. There is a form on their website that tells you what to do for people who need to do fingerprinting out of state. The best advice I can give you when endorsing to gerogia is give yourself plenty of time I sent in everything and they recieved it November 2nd 2012, after having to have my program director redo paperwork I didn't get my license until January 31, 2013. So make sure everything is completed and do be thorough when completing it otherwise it could take longer to get your license.

Once you go to the location where you getting your finger prints from they run ur background off ur fringer prints. its $50 I think I paid.

Hi keykey,

I'm getting ready to apply for endorsement in Georgia. On the Cogent online registration, there are two highlighted and asterisk sections that ask for an ORI/OAC* and verification code*. What are they and where do I obtain them, if they even apply to me? Also, Do I need to check the box for "Does another agency make the fitness determination" and if so, what agency do I choose? It's ludicris how difficult it is to get clarifying answers from the Ga. BON much less get someone on the phone. *sigh* Thanks in advance!

I recently went through the fingerprinting process and now playing the waiting game for my license. It took me forever to figure out what the ori number was and you only check the box if another agency is paying for the fingerprinting, well thats my understanding. me too getting a headache.. passed LPN exam last year month of august and got my license (Ca) weeks after.. took me a months to decide where to apply for endorsement ( Ga or NJ ) and decided to just stay here in ga for a while... my problem is on the application form it is said that : Three (3) months or five-hundred (500) hours of paid licensed practice as a practical/vocational nurse within five (5) years immediately preceding the date of your application; or Any Applicant who was initially licensed within (1) year from date of application;i am a newly license and dont have any experience yet as an LPN... BUT... i do have an experienced in the hospital as RN in the philippines 4 yrs ago... does it mean do i still need to provide an employment verification ? so confused! Help is highly appreciated and thanks in advanced :)

Also, one of my employers doesn't have the ability to notarize anything. I have gotten my hours and notary from my present employer, but can't seem to get it from my recent employer. This is a headache. Grrr! Has anyone gone through the process of getting your GA license by endorsement, care to share their experiences. Thanks

I see you are in a similar situation as I am. Have you found a solution yet for the employer to notarise your employment verification letter. I am also in a similar situation and I don't know how to go about it. If you do find a way, would you mind sharing it with me. I would really appreciate it. In the meantime, if i find out something i will surely post it here or i will PM you if that is ok. thank you

Let me tell what I've done...I went over to Alabama to work didn't require anything my my license and 24 hr CEU gonna work here for three months. ..how do u know this step needs to be completed do u have enough eduation hours?

Thanks everyone for your response. I FINALLY got in touch with someone from the board after patiently waiting 48 minutes on the phone. Yes, I counted. They told me that if my employer couldn't notarize my hours because they have no way of doing so I could simply state that in the blank sheet they provided (the sheet that tells you to explain questions in further detail if needed). My employer would still have to provide verification of hours in a sealed envelope. They also said I could mail it myself as long as it's in a sealed envelope and isn't attached to my application (has to be mailed separately). I FINALLY got my fingerprints yesterday and turned in my application (I sent it over night with the post office and had to pay almost $20). Now, it's just a waiting game.
