Who's graduating this December?

i'm in a two year adn program.only pre req was physiology. all other courses from bs in biology transferred to my nursing school. my biology program did a&p in one semester whereas my nursing school did a semester of each. not too bad, though, i needed the refresher after being out of school for 9 years.

taking med surg iii ( clinical in icu), peds, and seminar which is a smish smash of stuff like leadership, preparing for nclex, ethics, etc.

i'm currently working as a patient care aide/student nurse ( which means i can do blood sugars and draw blood) on a cardiac/renal floor. i will more than likely stay on that floor after graduation because 1) i'm familiar with the routine and type of patients ( pre/post heart caths, hypertension, pre open heart surgeries, dialysis patients, angina, etc) 2) i love the night shift crew i work with and 3) they really need me on the night shifts.

after working there for a little while (at least a year) i would like to work in critical care. i worked as a unit clerk in an icu for a year and loved the fast pace. or l&d (the happy specialty!)

Congrats Sharon! It must be soooo nice to not have to look for a job for after graduation. That's my dilemma right now--I really love my unit, but I may fall in love with the ED when I do my senior practicum.

Anyone else???

1. length of program--7 semesters plus 3 semesters pre-reqs, all part-time including summers

2. classes in last semester--senior practicum and leadership

3. jobs--i have a job offer that i'm thinking over

4. burns or icu--job offer is in the burn unit

1. I started college full time in the fall of 00. Took pre-reqs and classes to enable me to get my bachelors later. I started the actual program in spring of 02.

2. I have to take advanced med-surg 10 units. @ days lecture and one 0645-1945 lab (clinical class). Then 2 other stupid units to please my insurance (so I don't get dropped).

3. No..yikes I don't graduate for another 4 months

4. No idea I guess med surg hopefully days to keep my options open

I am in a 2 year ADN program but have been going part time, so it's eeked out to four years that I've been at this with pre-reqs included (anatomy, psych, sociology, biology, chem, english). I was supposed to graduate this past May, but have to repeat cardiac nursing which is a very intense 7 week course, and then I'll be DONE in December!!! I'm currently working as an LPN and my supervisor said I'll have a position on the same floor when I get my RN if I would like it. I'm loving the LPN slot, learning SOOOO much. In May as graduation neared, I did not feel ready, but now I do. What a difference six months will make, guess things happen for a reason. Good luck to all starting classes again soon, and hooray to us Dec. grads!!!!

i'll start off.
1. my program was 16 months and i took 4 pre-reqs over two semesters.
2. i'm doing my senior practicum in an ed, a context of nursing course, and community health (includes a clinical). only 12 credits, which will be a welcome change from the 18-22 i've taken each semester so far.
3. i will probably either stay on at the unit where i currently work as a tech, or try and get a job where i do my senior practicum.
4. either the ed or the icu where i work.

hello all, that would include me!!!

1) two full years plus pre-reqs (cna, math, cpr).

2) family and community nursing, clinical 3, 4 and preceptorship.

3) job? no, but have an idea where i want to start, in ltc preferably close to home. :

Hi all. I just spent a lovely few days in Martha's Vineyard and then up to Beantown (Boston).

I'm so glad there are other December grads here!! :balloons:

I guess I'm just freaking out about a job, even though I'll more than likely stay on where I work, but some hospitals around here say to start applying in August for a job in January!! That sounds crazy to me, but there are some hospitals that are more preferable to work at than others, like Johns Hopkins and U. Maryland/Shock Trauma.

Just trying to get a sense of where other people are in their job search. But I guess I should just remember two words: nursing shortage. I know I'll get a job I love somewhere!

1. program is two years, it has taken me 5 to finish (car breaking down, babies being born, etc)

2. one last med/surg class and a management course and that's it

3. no :stone

4. peds, but i'm thinking the "do the med/surg for a year first to get some experience" may be my best option

My school is a 2 yr ADN program (it took me 2 yrs to take pre-reqs part-time)

In this last semester I have peds and OB. I am soo excited that the end is now in site.

No I have not started to apply for jobs yet. I have started to look into what some hospitals were offering for their nursing packett. I want to return back to school so tuition reimbursement is important to me.

I will probally start on a med-surge floor. I want to do ER and want to really get my basic skills down.

i'll start off.

1) i've been working on this darn bsn for 17 years, took one bigggg break! had pre-req's up the wazoo.

2) last semester is public health (with a monster paper- min 30 pages) then rehab with a management component.

3) i have two job interviews in september, long distance and will line up some local in october. one thing per month for me. i will not stay where i am (surgical floor as an lpn) because i want a fresh start and want l&d, but it's not available here. when i am done, i want no question about my education or ability. ( oh, is that a chip on my shoulder? :chuckle )
