Which class would you recommend? Please respond!!

Hi,

I have a semester off before I start nursing school and I'm considering taking a non-required class. Which one would you recommend:

Phlebotomy or Medical Terminology?

Well, I have taken both. Medical terminology will probably help but most the words you learn as you go anyways. I LOVED phlebotomy! (Wierd I know) but it was a great class and I ended up working as a phlebotomist for a while. I say.........do both! :yeah:

I am in block one right now, and if I had the option before classes started, I would have taken Medical Term. It wasn't a prereq for me either, and I'm always looking up terms. Just my opinion. Best wishes!!

I would take medical terminology, it gives you a great basis to begin from. That way you aren't too lost when you start hearing all the medical jargon thrown at you in the nursing classes. But that is just my :twocents:. I hope this helps.

Medical terminology! It will also teach you how to pronounce some tricky words, help in your anatomy as well as helping you with spelling these new words. Good luck to you! :smokin:

Medical Terminology for sure. It will be easier than trying to learn terminology and other info at the same time.

I would not take any......take the summer & rest!

You will be soooo sick of going to class & studying before its all over. :banghead:

If you must...medical terminology..... this was a required class for my program.

I would take medical terminology because you will be dealing with medical jargon every day as a nurse/nursing student, but if you can take both then do so!

I would take Medical Terminology -- but you don't have to pay for a class. I did it using a book called Medical Terminology: A Short Course. It's a self study book, and it was so interesting. Good luck!

And if you don't want to pay for a book, you can always do some googling - I know that there are websites out there that have medical terms on them that you can study :)
