Need something to study..idea's and tips pleaase
It's always a good idea to go over med. term. but i wouldn't spend too much time on it. I know in our program there are people who are struggling over dosage calc. Some schools require a class for it some don't. So it's a good idea to have the upper hand on that as well. I bought my books early online and just started reading. If you can't or don't want to do that then i would get some straight A's for fundamentals, or which ever classes you'll be taking and start reading through thoes. They will give you the basics of what you'll be going over. Some advice that everyone gave me........Relax and enjoy your time away from school. I couldn't do it but I wish I would have because now......no time for anything. I feel guilty for spending 15 min with my hunny, while eating, when i have an exam comming up. It gets stressful, so it's nice to have some time off. Use it to visit friends, family, garden, what ever you like to do....now is the time to do it.

Do you prefer studying from index cards?
I make index cards for almost every exam i take. I write any and all information that I think that they want us to know on them. My catch is that I never look at them again. For me, the act of just organizing the information onto the cards helps. Another think that you have to think of is if you will have the time. It can easily take 5 hours to do a set of cards for one exam. If we have a week or so befor the exam ill take the time to make them. If we only have a few days.....its a waste of time for me, ill benifit more from just going through the book. I do know some of the girls in class make the cards with all the information and then only use thoes to study instead of haveing to lug their books around. And also when they are at a kids practice or at the laundry mat they just take the cards with them and study. I hope this helps....

How to break the news......
I agree with you it is overrated.....thats why I think its so childish...I've always been able to tell people how I feel and whats on my mind....and this I don't think should be a big deal....(but shell make it one)...I agree with how u say to go about it....because it really was never finalized.

How to break the news......
Of course we care....shes a person who weve had many of classes, lunches, study groups with. She is a good friend....its just getting so bad. We don't want to hurt her feelings but we can't stay with her if we want to keep our heads strait. The sad thing is that we should be able to tell her....if she was that good of a friend right but she makes it so hard....

Which class would you recommend? Please respond!!
Well, I have taken both. Medical terminology will probably help but most the words you learn as you go anyways. I LOVED phlebotomy! (Wierd I know) but it was a great class and I ended up working as a phlebotomist for a while. I say.........do both!

How to break the news......
So, me and a friend had plans to rent a vacation home with a classmate to stay in during our week long clinicals in april....well this classmate has lost her mind. She has started to just go off on us for no reason. She's a friend but we don't even feel like we can talk to her about it.. we just don't want to have to be dealing with her attitude while we are trying to work on care plans and such.....how would u break it to her that we don't want to split the house with her.( were thinkin no matter how we put it shes gonna be mad.) Anything is better than what we have thought of so far... and yea it sounds kinda childish but it is what it is.... Thanks

How do you find the time to work out while in nursing school? Help i gained 10lbs!
I had a hard time finding time as well. When I didn't have much going on I did the listen to the lecture on the treadmill thing. but the best thing that I could do for myself was just watching what I eat. I keep healthy snacks with me at all times. There in my bag, in my truck, in my purse. Some think its excessive but for me its eaiser than stopping at the bookstore and getitng some chips, or burgers. Weightwatchers is also another good idea. I started almost a year ago, and I have lost(and kept off) 37 lbs. I wasn't extremly over weight but I had gained in the couple of years since I had stopped working for school. They have an online version with a free one week trial right now.The reg price isn't too bad (cheeper than most gyms)( but I reccomend going to the meetings). (Just an idea) Its super easy and they recomend working out but for me I did it all without working out. And you eat whatever you want.....they have points for mcdonalds, candy bars, ice cream, everything. I think its a super easy way to loose thoes extra lbs and because you eat normal food its confidential.

Best Organizational Tip For Surviving Nursing School
I'm glad that you realize the organization is a key factor. I am starting my second semester in January and finished my first with B's(not the A's I hoped for, but still ok) The first thing you need to do is make a space in your home, whether it be a room or a spot on a counter, where you keep all your school things. You walk in the house and put your school stuff there. I had to go and buy a new book case for my study room for all my nursing books but thats not always needed. Then What I did was went and got a HUGE binder for each class. Our classes have units with a few chapers in each unit, I put dividers(about 25-30 for each) and divided each syllabus up that way. I make sure to put all of my stuff in the binders in class. I keep a hole punch in my bag for hand outs and such. If I don't put it away....I WILL loose it. Also instead of one of thoes little bags for my pens, I got a school box (like the kids use) its much easier and it fits alot more. I am interested to see what others do as well.

Annoying classmate
I have this problem as well. There are a few who have questions about everything!! I just wish that I didn't feel like there was so mush that I am missing out on because someone inturrups every chance they get. Is there some way to be nice about it......I know there are plenty of ways to be rude. But I think that I would be alittle embarrased if I didn't realize that my questions were affecting other students and someone pointed it out in the middle of class. Can anyone help? Is there a way to be nice?

Nursing Theorist Report
Well, there is not a text book for the class. It's a nursing prep class. I don't even know what a CINAHL search is but I will def. do that. I'm at a community college so there is not a Health Sciences library. I do have a fundamentals book that a friend gave me...but nothing. Thank you for all of your help. I did find a site this evening that gave me alot of information.

Nursing Theorist Report
I have been to the library at my university and I did get a little information there. There really wasn't alot though, about a paragraph in 3 diffrent books. They all basically said the same information. I have plans to go to the public library in the morning. I figured if anything I can find a book that she has written. Hopefully, I can get some information there. Thank you for your help!
