Where can I order books and get them FAST?

I start school next Wed, Jan 21. We need to have 4 chapters read in the Basic Concepts of Psychiatric- Mental Health Nursing 5th Edition by Louise Rebraca Shives, and Ann Isaacs. The problem is, our bookstore will not have this book until AFTER school starts. I ordered it on Amazon LAST Friday, paid for 2 day shipping, and was supposed to get it tomorrow. They emailed me today to tell me they won't be able to even ship it until Jan 30-Feb 4. I don't know where else to go where I can get this book in under a week. I have tried to get books from Barnes and Noble before but it also took them over a week to finally order it and get it in for me. Any ideas?

Sounds like you've definitely done everything you can to secure a book, but the situation is out of your hands for now. I would try to get hold of the instructor (e-mail, voice mail) and explain the situation. Other students are probably in the same boat. Don't panic, I doubt you'll fall too far behind in the first week w/o having a book, and can pretty much rely on the lecture for your info. Do you know anyone who already took the course who can lend you the book for the gap in between?

There are a ton of other sites out there to get books.

I like to use eCampus.com and half.com but half.com is used books and you won't receive it soon enough.

Do a search on this site for this topic, there have been several posts about good sites to use.

I also would check out the publisher's website to see if you can get it any sooner.

So close to the beginning of the semester though, I hope things work out for you.

Have you thought about going to the website of the publisher of the book? Sometimes they have 'students' sections where you can see samples of the chapters and chapter outlines. It may or may not be the entire chapter but in a pinch it will at least give you some background info.

You can try http://www.half.com and upgrade the shipping for a few extra bucks. Also, email the seller and explain your situation and they may get it out even faster. I think only some sellers offer the upgraded shipping and it should reach you within a week.

http://www.walmart.com has always been fast for me.

Thanks for the replies! I called Barnes and Noble to ask when they'd be able to get it, and she said 3-8 buisness days, but told me to go to their website and I might be able to have it delivered faster. I paid like $14 to do next day shipping, but I'm not taking any more chances!

I ordered from http://www.ecampus.com last semester. They said it could take up to a few weeks, but I got my book in 2-3 days.

That was always fun being a male nurse. Oh the memories of those study groups.

Regardless you had better find someone who does and get attached at the hip.
