Hi everyone!! I had my advising appointment for Fall 08 classes yesturday, and I need some advice. I have to take my NURS 115 class, which is a 6 hour class-and I have to take Information Literacy, which is a one hour class. So, that all together is 7 hours.
Now, here is where I need help/advice. I can take more. I need history, advanced psyc., and a few other classes.
So, should I only take my NURS. class, with the Informtation Literacy...or should I take a few more?
Thanks!!

It's really up to you. Only you know what you can handle. What is the Nurs 115 class? Fundamentals, Med/Surg?
What don't you take the history and psych class during the summer to lighten the Fall load.

Hi,
I would see what you can take now in the summer session and also find out what you might be able to CLEP out of.

Do you work? Do you have any other time consuming obligations. If not, I would go for more classes.
I think classes that are a lot easier in content are very refreshing along with nursing classes - I would not want to take a science or anything like that, but the psy's and other social science courses remind me that I do have the ability to grasp a subject without spending so much time studying.
Nursing 115 is Fundamentals. I do not have to work, hopefully..
Thanks

I agree with other posters that only you know what you can handle. I had at least 25 other classes done before I took fundamentals and I've got to admit that the first nursing class is a change from any other class. Your learning right away to begin thinking critically, not every question on exams is found in the book. Lots of advance type thinking. Good luck in NS :wink2:

My first question would be, do you need full time status for financial aid? If so then the answer is obvious.
Otherwise it is really up to you. Talk to students ahead of you in the program and asked how it was for them. I imagine fitting other classes in shouldn't be too difficult, I just would suggest taking subjects that come easier to you because you will have less time to spend on them.
I have always taken 1-2 other classes with my nursing classes and it hasn't hurt me. It is all about time management.
Good luck!

I work part-time during the semesters and take two classes a semester: nursing, which is 8.5 credits, and a science, which is 4; total of 12.5 credits. I only take the extra 4 because I have to stay full-time to keep my health insurance benefits. If I did not have to take the other 4, I would only focus on nursing.
