I tried a lot of study guides, but the only ones I ever really used are Med Surg Success and the Saunders NCLEX review. I really liked Med Surg Success because it has rationales for the correct and incorrect answers.

I just bought one of Maryann Hogan's Pearson Reviews & Rationales books for my Pathophysiology class. Holy moly, why didn't I know about this book in the beginning of my semester?? I LOVE this book. They have several other ones for other courses, and I will be purchasing any and all that correlate to my classes for the rest of my program.

The reviews and rationales series are the best, I use those to study more than my actual text books. I like them because the content is broken up and it's more easier to understand. There are pretests and post test that gives you the rationales why answers are right and wrong. I am currently in Med surg, I am using fundamentals, med surg, and patho books to help me study and prepare for tests.

When I was behind, there were times I ONLY used the reviews and rationales books. You don't have to scan through paragraphs to find what you're looking for. Its very concise. I always tell everyone how it takes out the fluff that text books have. These are GREAT books to study for exams. I had the pediatric one, but was a little disappointed in that it could have included more conditions. For example when we were learning cardiac conditions, not all of them were in the book. Awesome series though. Its how I passed nursing school, literally.
