Soft FECES and VOMIT...from adults! The smell of feces and vomit gets to me and I think it's because I witnessed a nurse once have a patient's feces splash up into her eyes and what she had to go through to deal with it (patient might've had an infectious illness). I use to think I'd get use to it. But the more I change diapers, measure intake and output from patients who have watery stools, I get more and more disinterested in it and find ways to avoid it. I can handle wounds (love 'em!), blood, all else. But when I'm on my own, I'll be wearing goggles and a face mask. Sorry patients if you're offended!

The vaginal checks. I didn't have any prior experience with childbirth and I had no clue nurses did this.

Stinky breath. I work as a hospice aide, and a lot of my actively dying patients have horrrrrrrible breath, so mouthcare is quite a priority for me! LOL, and I thought I wanted to be a dental hygienist for a while...

I'm in still in school but girls parts are just gross. When I was getting ready to start pushing with both of my kids, they pulled down those mirrors from the ceiling so I could see. I promptly asked them to put that back up. The nurses tried to persuade me otherwise but relented (and laughed hysterically) when I told them "If God wanted me to see that, he would have put that hole somewhere else!"

I can handle big, festering stinky wounds and all sorts of gross things but girls parts and the sound of someone vomiting turn my stomach.

Lol I feel the exact same way. That's why I know I could never work in OB.
