Asherah, where are you getting the Fage yogurt? Someone just told me about it the other day but I haven't seen it in the grocery store. Maybe I need to check next time I'm at Whole Foods.
    Thanks, Jules
Yeah, I have to make a trip to Whole Foods to pick it up, our more common grocery stores around here don't stock it. Just a heads up though, its a bit more pricey than most yogurts ($1.99), but I feel its well worth it.

raw almonds, cheese & crackers, apples & peanut butter...or just fresh fruit =)
What no shrimpchips? LOL I actually love them, but they are an acquired taste and they probably have too much salt and fat to be a good study snack.

I get "Rice Crackers with Nuts" from Costco. It's a mix of various flavors of rice crackers in interesting shapes, wasabi balls, and mixed nuts. I also like Quaker granola, with milk or without.
I remember hearing somewhere that eating an apple will help you stay alert, better than caffeine, but I have no idea when/where I heard that. Has anyone else heard that?

Okay this isn't really a "snack" but when I'm studying sometimes I just want to fall asleep! Has anybody ever tried 5 Hour Energy?

    http://www.5hourenergy.com/

I'm a huuuuuge caffeine addict (I get Starbucks practically every day while I'm in school...a soy upside-down caramel macchiato, yum! :smilecoffeecup and I know that that much caffeine can't be good for you...and Starbucks is pretty expensive.

    yay/nay?

Try Luna Bars, low-fat string cheese, tuna-fish in the pouches, fruit, cashews, beef jerky, V-8, water, and lots and lots of coffee (not all at once, of course)! Tape record your lectures so you can listen to them while you go on an evening walk.

I use to buy sixbucks and then one day I realized, why am I paying this much for coffee. I was looking for 5 hour energy but could only find a knock off called 6 hour power. It worked pretty good.

I was drinking all sorts of energy drinks for the caffeine and since I'm allergic to most artificial sweeteners, I was getting an amazing amount of sugar as well. I finally cut out the middle-man, so to speak. I just started taking caffeine pills when I wanted some caffeine. One pill is about the same amount as a cup of coffee and I can take it with a big glass of water. It's also a heck of a lot cheaper than all those energy drinks.

    Peace,

Thank goodness there's someone else out there!!! I thought I was the only one that gets sleepy studying. No one has posted any threads about good ideas to keep you awake and focused. If anyone else has any good ideas, keep them coming!!!

Try half of a whole-wheat bagel (the Pepperidge farm ones are pretty good...at least I'm pretty positive they're Pepperidge farm ) with a tablespoon or so of peanut butter. I've found that this snack will keep hunger under control for a little while and not be one of those overly carb-laden (but usually delicious) snacks that puts me right to sleep.

Regarding the whole staying awake thing, yeah, I get sleepy, too. Sometimes, if you're really afraid you'll nod off, it might help to take yourself to a place that's a lot less likely to make you doze. For ex., when I'm at college, there are a couple of coffee shops right down the block. I go there because I can treat myself to a little drink as I study (which of course wakes me up) and I'm way less likely to fall asleep in the middle of Caribou Coffee than lying on my bed. When I am studying in my dorm room, blaring some fun music helps. Or sometimes, if I know I'm settling in for a long study session, I just ward off sleepiness in the first place by taking a 10 or 20-minute power nap.

The Naked Juice protein drinks are the best. I have never stayed more focused. You can get them at the grocery stores and Starbucks sell them. They are a little on the expensive side but they are the best for me. They have different flavors and they are all natural. I like the Protien with soy. It works great for someone at my age, 46, who has menopause issues.

My favorite snack while studying is cold red grapes and a green tea from starbucks. The best thing about starbucks is when you study there the refills are only $0.50.
