Hello all,

I start next month and am SO SO anxious...wanted to know if anyone had any insights as to what I should expect for my first day? Being there is only 30 students in my class and I'm new to the area I'm wondering what I should do to meet new people and develop a relationship with my classmates... Any help would be greatly appreciated! CANT WAIT! :clown:

We had about 13 chapters of reading to do before the first day of class plus a prelab write-up. we jumped right into lecture and lab with barely any talk of the syllabus! Our first exam was the very first day of the second week. What a whirlwind!

Wow, if we have any work to do ahead of time, I haven't heard about it!

Yeah, I start in about a month and we just got our first list of classes and reading assignments...15 chapters to read, study, and know by the day we start! Yikes! Time to go textbook shopping...

Wow! I thought my program was bad b/c our first day of class is clinicals. I can't imagine having to know the first 15 chapters b/f classes even begin!!

Yeah. I was accepted late (a week before class started) and was still expected to complete all the readings and prelab! After the first couple of weeks it slowed down a little. I think they try to weed you out ;)

Hey everyone,

I recently just got accepted into Nursing school and I think this thread was a great idea! I'm super excited and nervous for school. I am also going to a small school.I'm going for my LPN because I didn't qualify for the RN right away so I'll do this for two years, work for a year and then go back for my RN. I had an interview with the school today and they said there were about 40 incoming freshman. I have orientation on Tuesday August 31st from 8-12 & then from 1-2 and then classes start the next day w/ nursing fundementals from 9-12 & Anatomy and Physiology I from 1-3! Any ideas on what to expect? and any suggestions?

Thank you!:)

WOW thank you all SO much for the responses!!! Its getting closer and closer and I canttttttt wait. I have orientation on the 2nd, I'll post how it goes!

Super nervous and excited at the same time!!!!

Orientation is Aug.27 then classes start August 30th. First lab is a few days later. I'm doing an ABSN program that is 18 months long. I heard the 1st semester is rough so I hope I don't get weeded out.

I also an excited for the 1st day! I start Aug 30th. My school seems to have a really great handle on thing so far. We got our acceptance letters in march and had an 8 hour orientation the last day of April. In may we got to pick classes and they had the uniform people there to size us and get our orders in. We were told we have a med calc test the 3rd day of class, and giving the title of the book from which to study. We have to pass the test with a 90 before we can move on. We get our syllabus on the 4th so we can prepare for our first class. We have 64 students, we all take theory and pre lab together and then we are split up for clinical and lab. I have all 28 textbooks, uniforms, papers and pencils ECT...I can not wait to start! :) Hopefully we will all come back and share how are first day went!

Wow, so many people here are doing accelerated programs. Aren't you worried about the massive work load you will have? I would rather learn everything more slowly since the last thing I would ever want to do is pull an all nighter.

To each their own. I'd rather get my degree done in 12 months instead of 2+ years. And I have no intention of pulling an all-nighter. It's all about organization, planning ahead, and studying when you have an exam/project instead of goofing off.

I agree with gumby. And some people actually learn better when an education program is more challenging. I'm one of those people who procrastinates because I work better and more efficiently when under pressure. Also, it's nice to actually put my bachelor's degree to some use, and the fact that I will (God-willing!) be working as an RN-BSN in less than 18 months will be more than worth the 12 months of torture I am about to put myself through! I already have 6 years of college under my belt (4 years undergrad + the 2 years it took to complete my pre-reqs) and I'm ready to start my career! :clown:
