What color is your uniform?

for school/clinicals?

Reading the buying scrubs thread and thinking about all white... just curious if white is the norm for most schools, or if any others have a little more color! LOL :)

Geez, and I used to complain about my all-white student outfits....at least they were of a design of my own choosing, and not something with puffed sleeves (I was in my late 30s in school, how absurd THAT would have looked!) or, God forbid, a bib or apron like candystripers used to wear "back in the day". They also were cheaper than some of the uniforms described here. I guess looking like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man wasn't so bad after all.....

White (Pants, jumper, etc.) with Burgundy shirt (tee, golf or crew l/s)

Our scrubs are "Galaxy" blue with the school logo on the front pocket of the shirt and the pocket on the back of the pants. I guess that it to remind us that our "butts" belong to the school right now. As for our uniforms, we have white blouses with patch on the left sleeve and white pants topped off by a lovely "Galaxy" blue apron with BSCC embroidered on it. Very very classy...;)

White Pants, Navy blue top, white shoes, white Lab coat. My school is asking 39.99 for ea top, pants and 50.00 for the Lab coat I shoped around and found the same thing for 5.00 for ea. and 6.99 for the Lab coats

Our uniforms are all white. I look like I work in a psychiatric hospital. Plan on having a big bonfire with mine when I finish my program.

Tigerpaw, and every one else for that matter, why not donate your uniform(s) to your school? Every year my school will admit people late and thus they miss the orientation, when the uniforms are ordered, and they don't have them when clinicals start. That is what I plan on doing with mine. Our school loans them out, doesn't give them away, until theirs come in. Just a thought anyway...I think it is a good way to help others out. :)

I graduated two years ago, thank the Good Lawd, but we were spared no amount of humiliation and my nursing school is STILL requiring the same uniform because it's a "tradition."

Everyone had the same type of paper-thin white pants- you couldn't get them made any cheaper but they sure were expensive! TOTALLY see-through, girls and guys alike- we all knew WAY too much about each other if you get what I'm saying. It was funny to see the guys complaining about THEIR panty lines for a change, though.

The tops were the icing, though.

Girls had a white tunic-style top that was nipped in at the waist and flared out at the bottom, ensuring that ALL of us looked like Judy with the Bootie- even the most petite of us looked like they'd been popping bon-bons like breath mints. The tops were zip-up to the neck with a nice 70's style collar, and had mini pleats down the front from clavicle to waist- about thirty of them. We looked like we were wearing tuxedo shirts! The sleeves were 3/4 length and had nice, professional looking poufs at each shoulder, narrowing down into a sleeve that was nearly impossible to push up to the elbow. Our arms looked like hamhocks.

The guys didn't fare much better, though. Similar white tops, no shoulder pouf, but they had the pleats, too. From the front they looked like old fashioned dental uniforms, but the back was the kicker, pardon the pun. They had little belted backs just above the buttocks with a kick-pleat. We called it their butt ruffle.

We BEGGED them to let us wear something else, but they refused. For Peds, we wore any scrub top we liked, or printed aprons that you could borrow with pedi-type fabrics. I agree that this made us no more appealing to those screaming children than we would have been had we shown up to give their first immunization covered in pigs' blood.

Thank goodness that's over!

I really don't have much of an opinion of our uniforms. I guess it's because over the years they have been asked to change but refuse. Anyway, Our's are white and navy blue. We were a white top with navy blue piping and white pants during hospital rotation. Or, the same white and blue top with blue pants during community rotation. Not very exciting. To this day, I don't think my husband has seen me in my student nurses uniform. LOL

For clinicals @ my school, it's white pants, nursing shoes (no clogs), white scrub shirts with a burgundy stripe around the bottom of the sleeves. The shirts are embroidered in the dark color with the school abbr. & PN student. We have a choice of white or burgundy scrub jacket, not embroidered. I bought 3 shirts & pants & one jacket & it cost $135.50. Not too bad, I don't think.
