Weight gain?

This may seem like a dumb/trivial question, but how many of you gained or lost weight from the stress or busyness of nursing school? I worked my butt off to lose 55 pounds a few years ago, and I'm curious as to whether or not I'll have to be vigilant about it. Plus, if I gain too much, my school scrubs won't fit! ;-)

My weight stays pretty constant. I've only had one semester of nursing so far but I've had plenty of time for non-nursing stuff like working out lol. Plus I've worked as a (very busy) CNA for 24 hours a week the past year and a half now. Although, I do always gain about 5 pounds or so in the winter, no matter what, and I always lose it in the summer.

Well, I can report that after my first semester I managed to gain 16 lbs. Never thought it could happen to me but it did. Why? Clinicals made me tired but didn't burn off any calories. And, my hubby just cannot cook healthy meals. Everyone in the family gained weight. We're all taking it off now, and I will spend the last week before the semester starts cooking and freezing meals. It will not happen again!

Lost 5 pounds already and hoping for 5 more before January 14th! :)

That's awesome! Congrats!

Since I took up running last semester I didn't gain any weight, but I also didn't lose any, which was disappointing. Our school has such shoddy hours we spent way too much time studying in restaurants; combine that with the fact that my husband also can't cook healthily, and I worked my booty off for nothing :-/

Any ideas how you're going to combat the weight gain next semester? I'm trying to lose about 20lbs so I really need to cut back calories on the food end of things. But school is just so hectic!

i actually lost about 5 pounds during my first semester of nursing school. i'm just not hungry when i'm stressed & studying

I think I'm going to have to get back to my old habit of getting up at 4:30 and running before the day begins as well as planning out and precooking the meals for the whole week on Sunday. I don't want to do it, but if I can get the meals planned, and arranged with instructions, I think hubby may be able to follow the recipe and have a meal ready that is worthy of eating, and not something disgusting like hotdogs and pork and beans (one of his famous dinners).

The good news this semester is that my clinicals go from 2-8 hour clinicals to 1-12 hour clinical. That opens up another day each week to get more organized, or so I hope. We shall see. I hope you're able to lose your weight and get things figured out. Maybe this semester won't be as stressful.......yeah, right! :)
