Does anyone know if this is allowed in indiana? I tried contacting my school but they said no student has ever tried this. I tried emailing the BON of indiana and loked on their page with no luck. Is it possible to take the nclex-pn exam in illinois if i am a student in indiana? My permanent address is illinois. If i am able to do this, how do i go about filling out the paperwork if i have not graduated from my bsn program as of yet? Thanks for your help!

I don't think that's an option in IN. :/

LPNs have specific educational requirements that likely have not been fully met by your BSN program. There are some ADN programs that have the option to sit for LPN boards after the first year but again they have extra course and clinical requirements.

Again folks the LPN program isn't just RN-lite or a consolation prize for those who can't pass their RN NCLEX.

I always have to bite my tongue when I see these posts. Thank you Jules A, you put it better than I ever would.

In Indiana only graduates of PN programs are eligible to apply for an LPN license by examination.

You are not eligible unless you graduate from a PN program in IL, even if you graduate from a RN program

Any candidate who is unable to pass the registered professional nurse examination will not be permitted to write the practical nurse examination until or unless that applicant has graduated from an approved practical nursing education program.
